Really really nice spirit table. A masterpiece indeed !

Here's a nice addenda to the collection, the photo of Allan Kardec in a perfect Napoleon III style box.

I need to start hanging out on different boards on here .. what an awesome find. Color me green with envy. I need to start hitting antique shops and flea markets .. or even garage sales. I would love to find an antique light table for 'table turning.' What a great conversation piece to have sitting around in your house.
All small town magicians know what 793.8 signifies.

According to Allan Kardec book 'Le livre des Esprits', the rapping was made, by fraudulent mediums indeed, by laying their hands side by side on the table along with the hands of the sitters then discreetly pressing and rubbing their right and left hand thumbnail tips togheter to produce a sound audible in the 'cornet' (stethoscope) or by laying an ear on the table.

Beautiful table by the way!

Involutary rappings may also be provoked by the tension in the muscle of the people around the table. They stay in the same position during a long time and the release of tensions created craking sounds.
