Now before anyone starts the ranting and raving about what I am going to say, please make note: Most of what Kozmo explains in the DVD set is Absolutely Brilliant!!! He rationalizes every move he does and I am not talking about the magic, but how to build a crowd-- He teaches all the subleties quite well. Most viewers would not even know that every tiny move that he does in his performance is actually planned. The DVD set is quite good for anyone wondering how to draw the crowd and ultimately make money. HOWEVER...... I understand he speaks to his audience about $10's and $20's are the best tips for him because this is how he makes a living, but he actually turns down $1.00 bills from children. You see him moving his money-collecting hat away from the child and tells him something. I'm not too sure what he tells him, but the child walks/runs away. What kind of message is he telling the child??... It is shown that he does this to children on more than 1 occasion. Yes-- I think it is important to get the bigger bills, but to "tell" a child "No Thank-You" or "Go ask Mom or Dad for Bigger Bills"? This is quite bold (Frankly-- It's RUDE) and sends a message that the magician is not grateful. What are the children going to think of him?? Lastly, Kozmo never speaks to us (the viewers of the DVD) on how to "turn children away" and not accept the small bills from them. I don't know... I understand you want to get big bills, but telling children "No Thank-You" is almost like just "SPITTING IN THEIR FACES." .

It sounds like you are unsure of exactly what he is telling the child. Perhaps it would be more beneficial to find out first what he is saying to the child before shooting the gun, (per say). I'm not sure either what he is telling the child, and you maybe right, but your assumptions may also be wrong.

He does NOT take their money and the children run away. What else could he be telling them??? He does take money from other children. .

The kid was putting garbage in my hat and I told him not to do that....it happens all the time....
this is the second time I have heard this in a review and its ********! I would never do that... I appreciate the life that I have been givin because of kind people putting money in my hat,.... and I would NEVER not let a kid put a dollar in my hat....its rediculous...it may have looked like that but it wasn't what it was....I'M A PRO!I did this or a living for 20 years....I'm way smarter than that.... You take what people can afford and thank them.... saying, go back and get a 5 is all about maing them laugh and very little about money....i know what it looked like but that is not what it was....WOW |

Well, there you have it! Right from Koz himself. Now that was surely more beneficial than making outlandish assumptions, wouldn't you say?

Sorry Koz... It just didn't make sense. The DVD set is simply a Breath of Knowledge and Super Tips. I highly recommend it. But Koz, what is the motive for kids to use energy, walk up to you and throw "garbage" in your hat when clearly money is going in there... It just doesn't make sense!?!?!? .

I had a total stranger walk up behind me, and hit me in the head with a brick! He took off running. Everybody saw it, but me. Knocked me right out. Sent me to the hospital. They didn't even rob me. No apparent reason what so ever!

Listen, stuff happens, and there is no accounting for what a total stranger in a crowd might do. There is no "sense" about it sometimes.
Koz is a pro. If he's not THE best busker in the world, he's in the discussion. He's also a good man. If he says this is what happened, I believe without reservation that this is what happened. I would tell a kid not to put garbage in my hat, too!

I see I see... ...I knew this would open a "can of worms". If this was such a common thing, I thought he would acknowledge that on this DVD-Set about the "Tales of the Streets". That's all I was looking for as to how to deal with the spectators. If it is such a common thing as people on this thread are saying, then finding just a few minutes on this whopping 2-DVD set should have been covered also. Now I understand through this post, just to bluntly tell them "No Thank-you" for the garbage, but what about getting whacked on the head... Again, Dealing with hecklers and "Garbage Throwers", etc. should have been mentioned on a DVD set that's about "How to do Street Magic". If it's NOT common, then perhaps don't mention it at all. But you guys are telling me that these are common things. .

Actually I thought I would have ended this by saying what I said....
people do stuff...how do you handle a kid putting garbage in your hat...you tell them not to do that... although I don't really agree with how salby handled this its ok with me that he had an opinion and obviously hes not the only one as I had heard this in another review that I didn't respond to.....maybe I could have handled it better both on the streets and on the video? I don't remember if I talked about how to deal with hecklers.....well I don't have them really ever...i just don't..i think the reason why is I'm confident and I show them...plus I think they sense maybe that they would lose....if youre confident they are less likely to attack because they could be in danger of losing.. and if they do heckle you then include them... usually these people just want to be part of it.... I hope you guys get something from the dvd beyond the possibility of my mistake and I appreciate all of you who bought the set.... Thanks |

I was very upset that Kozmo didn't give warning about the dangers of cigarette smoking. Other than that, it's a perfect dvd set to learn the real work from.
