I'm not sure if this goes here but I figure I start here.
I'm trying to write out lecture notes for the future. I know that it will take a long time before it would be ready for everyone. But I was wondering if when you write your lecture notes if you use a special program or do you just write it up in word? I would like it to be a pdf file as well as a hard copy. Also if you have any idea on writing up lecture notes that would be great. Again this is a project for me and I know it will take at least a year before I would like to release it. William |

You can save word files as .pdf. Obviously you can't edit them after you have saved them as the .pdf.

I wanted to add photo's to it so I wasn't sure that word was the best software for the job.

Usually authors use Microsoft Word for writing their content, then the final publication is put together in a page layout software such as Adobe Indesign or Quark and saved as a print ready PDF. Software like Indesign is expensive though and probably overkill for what you need. Microsoft Word is probably enough.

I'd agree... just get going with WORD and then if, later on you want to get fancy, you can explore other programs or outsource some help, but the main content can be done in WORD quite easaly right now.
CONTENT First... context later on. I say GO FOR IT!

Thank you.
I do have Adobe Indesign, came with my CS4 package. I guess I'll find some tutorials for Adobe Indesign. I'll start writing up some of my ideas tomorrow. Thanks again. Anymore advise would be great. William |
