Hey there.
Reading books on history of magic I found an effect which used to be popular a couple of hundred years ago: making steamy omeletts in borrowed hats. This sounds pretty amazing. Does anybody know how they pulled this one? I'm really curious about this particular effect. Also, what with the stains in the hat? Any pointer is appreciated. Thanks. |

Check out this month's Genii magazine for a Mac King update on that effect.

Omelettes cooked in hats? Try cupcakes cooked in shoes. I saw a guy named Mysterio (I think) perform this at the Magifest a few years ago. The entire routine was hilarious. I knew that the spectator whose shoe was borrowed to do the trick would stare into it for a while and really wonder if he wanted to put the shoe on again!

Al Baker used to bake a cupcake in a hat. The method and the recipe for the cupcakes is in that big Al Baker book.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I DID say it was several years ago! I'm more surprised that I got the name of the character Carney was playing as close as I did after all this time. Thanks for the clarification Chayce.

I am shure you should look for Conradi Horster too - the usual gaff device made from mould pressed tin is typical for that century and there are quite a lot of reviews of magicians at that time performing that special trick.
