You could do a solid 10 mins with 4 aces and one extra card:
Twisting the aces Daleys Last Trick Modified Version of Paul Harris's Whack your Pack Modified version of everywhere and nowhere Homing Card (card to pocket) Three Card monte Right here is a 15-20 minutes you could do at a walking around gig for an 8 top table and aside from the three card monte every thing basically plays off the table so it will play big...however I think this idea of a 10 - 15 minute act that you can carry in your wallet is great for impromptu situations, however for a paid gig you should use whatever you need...not what you can fit in your wallet. Also for a paid gig you have no excuse for forgetting to bring your props. At that point you might as well not show up. |

Hi E.C Valdemar,
How do people react to Silent Running? I bought the trick/effect and have not used it because it seemed really lame.......but then I also did not give it a fair trial. I am wondering if I should look at it again. Best wishes, Danny |

I carry a mentalism wallet with me as my everyday wallet. I've done 20 minutes with it very easily. (It's a Stealth Assassin in case anyone cares.) Great routines can be done "impromptu."

I dunno if I'm out of context, but I've noticed you can do a solid 15/20 minutes impromptu gig with anything.
I consider impromptu as "at a moment's notice", and showmanship is as important as the trick itself. Look at the toilet paper trick. it's 10 minutes with just a roll of paper. a TT can give you 10 mins of show also. Anyone seen that Lady doing a strip show with just the TT ? Great act, without even a word, just good music, and .. well, you wouldn't strip naked in the streets, but heh.. ever done a all girls night out private party ? ;p Cigarettes, coins, bills, matches, mentalism, silk (or napkin), a roll of napkin / lump of bread and 3 caps for the 3 shells, 3 business cards for a 3 cards monte, rubber bands, etc. Everything is available in your pocket or around you. I know I'm not answering the thread and apologise.. >.<

I must admit, the thread confuse me,
if the goal is to find a set that for a pro walk around gig, so why limit yourself to just a "wallet"? you probably have at least 4 pockets, that can contain stronger effects than those that can be fit to a wallet. usually we know, when and where we are going to perform and therefore, the real question should be what are the strongest effects that I can do in 5,10 minute set under the conditions avaliable? |

If with 1 wallet you have 10/15mn, with 4 pockets, you'll have an hour !

I get it and I've actually been thinking about a similar kind of set-up, using the wallet as a storage for some great magic. As many have said, I love Extreme Burn. Would like to pair that with some other effects, all that could fit in a wallet. I've been thinking about getting the burning wallet, which would add another dimension. I'm thinking something with packet cards, such as B'wave.
Yes, you can do great magic with just about anything. But going back for the wallet would give you a reason for reaching in your pocket, which as we all know can accomplish a lot more. It gives you a reason to go there, to pull out something new. It's also why I bought a coin purse frame. There's a lot you can do with that magically, as a running gag, and just an excuse to go to your pocket. Also, a TT packed way in the small change pocket in a pair of jeans or a suit coat adds another dimension and probably another 50 tricks you can do anywhere. But it was great to find this thread, as I had been thinking about this exact same thing. |

I'm surprised no one mentioned any impromptu magic with one of the main objects carried in a wallet- PAPER MONEY!!! Lots of potential.
Presidential smile/frown optical illusion Suspended Funds- Dan Harlan Now You Z It- Dab Harlan Bill vanishes/multiplies- rubbing on elbow Infusion- Andrew Mayne Ghost Bills- Andrew Mayne Of course, even better, most others have bills, so even more impressive with other people's borrowed money, & you have effects that you can do whether you have any magic in your wallet or not! & even if you normally don't carry cash in your wallet, you might just for the purposes of having them to practice wherever you go. |

Have to go with a number of cards set up for any variation of card warp. Its a perfect woman in a box (if you use a Queen) stage illusion, minimized!
