Hello ! this is my first topic and need your help !
Next summer I plan a camp with workshops and one with magic tricks. The theme is : God's protection, God as our shelter, our refuge, helper, our rock, and so on.... I have a few trick but not all fit with the theme but what I have is : - needle through balloon ans similar tricks to talk about the fact that we can go through pain, sorrow...with God's help. - tricks to talk about the fact that God provides ( lota bowl...)and does not let us down. - I would like to talk about God's will that prevent us from a lot of pain. Maybe a mentalism trick....if you know one ... I seriously need your help, imagination, because I might need to buy new tricks if I don't have them. Thks so much ! God bless ! Emmanuel |

God's Protection: Example - Armor of God: Prepare large paper bag with false bottom and an inflated 260 balloon hidden in bottom. Cover outside of bag with pictures or drawings of belt, breastplate, shoes, shield, helmet & sword. (These can be downloaded from internet). Explain the significance of the armor (Ephesians 6:10-18)
Inflate a large round balloon, draw a smiling face on it. It is smiling because it knows that God's protection will keep it safe. Place it in bag so it is completely hidden in the bag. Show a large needle, like the one used for needle through balloon. Shove needle into bag, penetrating only through the false bottom, popping the 260. Reveal unharmed round balloon - protected by the armor. Use your own patter to suit your message and style.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men [and women] to do nothing."

God's Protection:
I used "Smash and Stab" to illustrate exactly this at summer camp last year... but I changed the routine up a bunch... I started with three coasters covered in inverted styrofoam cups (and in case you were wondering, these were three "safe" coasters). I had volunteers up to see how loudly they could crush the cups. Before each volunteer, I would rearrange the cups a bit. After each volunteer, I would replace the smashed cup with a replacement from the shelf under the table-top. After a few repetitions, the actions of this cup-replacement became invisible... so that before my final "volunteer" came up, I was able to switch out one of the "safe" coasters for the "deadly" coaster in the act of replacing the styrofoam cup. The final volunteer was a stooge. We had arranged before-hand that he was NOT (under ANY circumstances!) to smash the cup on the (marked) coaster. I grabbed his arm and gave him a wooden mallet instead.... The effect upon the imagination was very effective I made it clear afterward that since I was in control there was no danger at all! Similarly, God is in control of our lives, too.
