Thanks to MB for his advice about starting to learn some coin magic (me, not him, you understand). Generous with his advice and beyond expectations with customer service. A gentleman to deal with.

It's been almost 7 months since this post and this sleight pays off every time. I just thought I'd share that since making this review, the crimp change has evolved and become even more beautiful with dollar coins. With a little finesse, this looks spectacular with dollar coins. It looks like a silver coin literally becomes a copper coin.

I too like this and it can be substituted for those struggling with the 1st change in the Ponta Spellbound routine. So many uses with this.

Really, I can't recommend anything higher than this. Marion really is cutting edge with his subtleties, sleights, routines and teaching. I've had this for a while, and really, I need more practice. This is too good to fluff.
Dollar coins are probably best for show, but I am using Half Dollars and English Pennies to practice. I have played around with this, using a c/s and a Chinese coin. I am still working on that. I already have Marion's Cop/Silv Surprise, and just am trying to adapt the Crimp Change to that. Dollar coins may be difficult. I can't find a copper coin I like in dollar size. A Chinese coin would be beautiful! So would a gold coin, but the contrast would be best with a black Chinese coin with a hole! I have found a few, and may pick one or two up in the near future. This would also work with the different color Chinese coins, red, blue, yellow, green and black. The color change between two would be magical! Doug |

Doug, how about a $1 size washer? Paint it any color you want . I found just this item on the ground and realized it's same size as a Morgan or Ike and it has a small hole in it.

I'd also like to chime in and say that Marion's Crimp Change is fast becoming one of my FAVORITE sleights. He also includes a smaller tutorial in his Short Pockets download, along with 4 other AWESOME routines. If you're reading this and are looking for a new and unique sleight to add to your arsenal or beef up your spellbound/transpo, Marion's Crimp Change is the answer to your prayers!

Ive been a lurker here for a while. Just a magic Hack that enjoys messing with cards and coins really.
I bought this about 3 weeks ago and have practiced it continually. Probably 4000 times by now. Its easy to practice while driving or watching tv or walking. And I have. Its INCREDIBLY hard to master... But I finally got up to a high enough level where I could show it to someone yesterday and showed my wife. She was AMAZED. This is really cool and wanted to say thank you for sharing. It was worth far more than the 10 bucks or so I paid. Ill practice it 4000 more times before I dare show it to anyone else, so the secret of the trick is safe with me! thanx again Brian |

Btw, as far as coins... Im an expat in Mexico... I use a '56 50cent piece... and 81 20 peso piece. Exact same size as each other, one is silver the other is copper.
Both are size of half dollar (well like 1mm larger I think) cheers |

A washer Rizzo? That is a good idea! I'm looking at several options. The Dollar coin is harder, as you can well imagine. I'm thinkin' Half Dollars will have to do. Besides, I just found my Coin Alchemy set, which has a Silver English Penny and a Gold Half Dollar!
My Copper Half is defective, the copper plating was ruined in the plating process, that's why I got the set for free. I did find a replacement on eBay, so when I recover from my "situation", I plan on picking that up. I have some ideas of my own how I can use the Crimp Change in a routine I am working on. This is a "knacky" kind of thing. Mavericklancer is right, though. Short Pockets is a must have! And his latest, REViSiTED is really cutting edge! I know how it's done, and it still fooled me the first time I saw it! Coin Workers, you really have an arsenal of great tools, if you study Marion Boykin's techniques! I am voting him to be a Magic Café Guest Of Honor! Is anyone with me on this? If you agree, vote here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......rum=40#0 Thanks! Doug |
