Hi All,
I have only recently launched my new website to promote the Kids Magic Shows, primarily Birthday Shows which I perform. Any Feedback or Tips etc on my website would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Magic Sam.

Magic Sam,
The video was way too short and one of the pics (the second one maybe) was completely out of focus. Just my 2 cents.

Couldn't get the video to load, but you have a great start (and head start on many) with your background in Children's Theatre.

Focus on volunteers and not just you is noted well in the photo.

(looks like Circling the Square..or was it squaring the circle...)

are you both doing the effect to create a wider magic effect?...if so cool idea...

Topmost picture = two megs plus? No wonder the site loaded slow!

The video: not bad but too short, and if you're gonna have a video ... how about some actual video?

Magic-Sam,

Take the above suggestions to heart and make a few changes. I would add some actual text to the page as well (for the search engines to latch onto) On the whole though, this site just says Fun and Professional. The colors are bright and cheery. It's a simple layout, and easy to read. You're miles ahead of many others that are out there on the net. Well done.

I like it. Like the colors, like the font and like how you get drawn in to the page.

I think the page takes the heat off the video (which I decided not to watch until you let us know it is nearly perfect).

The focus on the top picture is not good but page loaded quickly for me.

Good job

Overall I think it is a nice site I like the Bright colors, I do agree the video was too short. and it did take too long to load. as stated Above you are off to a good start.

I never liked those long downward websites that you have scroll down forever drag on and on all on the same page...

Yup Kevinr - I also generally dislike the long downward sites.

They are normally so heavy on text and just keep repeating themselves over again and tend to be really sales (pushy) heavy.

Magic-Sam's take on this as a magician/entertainer has loosened up my thoughts a bit namely because the site isn't your standard 'black 'n' white' slide but rather a nice colorful trip with some pics and vids that guide you along without steering off into other avenues (pages).

So for a change the scroll down type of site just looks fun and quite to the point for example without blabbering on in a million different pages you just get the WHOLE story in one go.

I like it. Short and sweet.

Thankyou to everyone who has left feedback, it is extremely helpful and uplifting

ScottO - Yes, I will be definitely taking this feedback on board. I do have text at the bottom of the page, however it is the same colour as the background to blend in, as there are many keywords that I have used for SEO.

Mr_Shiney - Im working on the images as we speak to get the load happening faster
Dani – Thanks for your feedback regarding the colours. The video won’t be there for another few months, it is a rather slow process getting the footage etc.

Kevinr and Dani – I have always hated the long downward full of text sites too, but being on a rather low budget I didn’t have to many other options. Im glad you both like my take on the one page sales letter type site.

Within the next month or so, I will post a link to my final promo video, Im a little embarrassed about my short 30 secs video, but I also do want to get across to some people that it is important not to have a video promoting your childrens shows that lasts 6+ minutes, the videos do take a long time to load and parents who are extremely busy people may not be all that interested in watching almost nothing happening, only include your climaxes throughout the show, close ups of the kids laughing and reactions are great! Im also hoping to include some testimonials in my video.

Hey Sam,
As a web programmer and agency, we have about 15 websites and my two bits is to change your domain name.
Firstly using any the non-alphabet characters is considered a no no. Its make it harder to describe over the phone and harder for people to later remember.
Secondly, using 3 words make it even tougher as well as they are interchangeable (kids magic show, kids show magic, magic kids show). Clients will never remember this and added to this they need to remember your '-'.
Thirdly you have used plural form of kid and show. So now someone needs to remember the right order, the '-' and also that its kids and not kid and shows and not show.
So I see your show, you mention your website and 3 months later I try to remember it, I have about 20 combination in my head.

Anyway, your just young and starting off, so now is the time to get an easy domain.

As far as your website goes, get rid of the scrolling, just add a top menu and more pages.

Agree that dashes in the domain are not the best, but are good for SEO if you have the right terms in there. I would think the right SEO domain name would include the words people will search on, something like this:

brisbane-kids-magician

I like the site in terms of color and graphics, but yes, break it into pages...

One thing you probably want to add is a booking/inquiry form, see also:
