It is basically the same gimmick (I have both)...but the Hecklau version has one minor improvement that makes it a little better. Mr. Hecklau puts the spoon in his mouth for his routine...but you can perform the Zander version with the Hecklau gimmick... However in the same thread nonvpro writes Quote:
Unfortunately, this apparently is no longer available. Zander Magic is now out of business. Alex's version of this effect is well made and works well. Neal

I agree. Axel's gimmick is nicely made.
Haven't seen the other version though Steve |

I've been using Zander's version for a few years now, and I get a lot of mileage out of it. It could also be put in the mouth, although it might be hard to talk after the fork is removed. I didn't know Zander magic went out of business.

Yes, he told me he closed down his magic shop. I was able to find and buy Precious Metal from someone here at the Café. From a spectator's point of view, both Zander's and Hecklau's versions would appear to be the same and they would be right as far as the presentation goes. You could use either version to the same end. However, the method of attachment is different. For those of you who have both, you will understand what I'm saying. As I stated in another post, my only issue with Hecklau's version is that it's a little on the large side for me. It's a matter of personal preference. I also like being able to apparently pick up a spoon from the table where I'm performing, go into the routine and then leave the fork on the table. With Zander's version, I'm able to duplicate what needs to be done in order to use the forks and spoons at the restaurants where I perform. With Hecklau's version, I have no idea how to duplicate it. It's exclusive to Hecklau and the specific spoon and fork he provides as a set. In my opinion, Hecklau's utinsels/gimmick are constructed much better than Zander's version. However, using Zander's method, it's very easy to construct your own set, using whatever utinsels you want within reason and to the quality you choose.
As far as Hecklau's version being a copy of Zander's version, I will leave that up to you. From a spectator's point of view, the exact same presentation can be achieved using either version. However, besides the quality, the only real difference is the method used in the construction of the gimmick. The spectator will never be able to tell what version is being used. |

Thanks for the detailed info, Nonvpro; that helps to clarify some things.

Glad to be of some help. I'm having a lot of fun with this. I love the fact that after I've finished the effect, I'm able to leave the fork on the table. Its fun to watch the scramble for the fork once I place in on the table. Reset is very easy and I'm able to reset while I'm on my way to another table.

Just to drop a word
Spoonaround is NOT a copy of Zander´s. As far as I know, the main gimmick is an invention of a german magician named MAGIRO and it is more than 20 years old. I changed the routine, what was a transposition between a spoon and a fork (and when the spectator was not sure witch is were, the effekt dissapeared) and I changed the gimmick to an absolute usable item. There where many gimmicked spoons on the market from many different dealers who offered the transposition effekt, but every version I had in my fingers were very cheap made and not usable. I perform my version for about 8-9 years and I don´t know when Mr Zander´s came up with his version. |

Thank you, Axel. I wasn't aware that the gimmick is different, and your version has been around for 20 years. But the real question here is, how do you get your mustache to be like that?
