Would anyone care to speak to the reliability/durability of the gimmick? When you set deck on a table or put a coin over it etc.... how predictable/reliable is the pause before the magic happens? And is there likely an issue with gimmick durability? or it sustaining proper "tension" after repeated uses?
I am a recent purchaser of one of the tricks that I have heard others refer to as the "arts and craft projects". And while the secret of the trick I purchased was clever, many hours and many cut up cards (and used scotch tape/glue) later, I never did get a gimmick made up that worked well enough to even think about performing the trick.............. thanks much... I'm kind of on the fence with this one right now. |

The gimmick is well made and should last a long time. It's a simple gimmick and doesn't take great craft ability to make ( I have little craft ability ). An x-acto knife and a needle and you're good to go. I made one and I think it looks and works as well as the one I received.
The pause before the effect happens can't be timed per se. You can't snap your fingers on the beat. You can extend your hand as if you're willing it, etc. Chris

Review king, what does the gimmick lasting time of "long time" mean? 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 25 years, more? Thanks.

The gimmick should last a decent amount of time unless you abuse it. Making a new one or one for a different back design is amazingly simple. I was surprised how simple the making of the gimmick is. To me, this is not really an "art and craft project".

Doug, the gimmick is so easy to make. I was sure this was going to be a complicated hinge/spring, 4 different cards, etc.

Hey everybody,
Sorry if this is in the video and I missed it but where can you get replacement "stuff" for making the gimmick. The slender stuff not the stuff in a tube? I've made two more gimmicks (one blue, one black/white), one stealth, and one lucky and I am down to one or two gimmicks more of material. I want to make at least one more lucky and one more stealth (different colors, for specific reasons) so I need more material. Went to Joanne's and Michaels and no luck. Lem |

Why on earth can't these DVD's include a printed instruction sheet outlining the set up process? At least this does include a summary of the set up after each chapter, but I really hate having to rewind and re-examine instructions when a simple 8x10 photo instruction sheet would suffice.
Another problem that I often find on DVD's is the wash out and inability to see what is written on white surfaces or showing "white" things like the edge of a deck of cards. Don't the producers see this when editing videos? Aside from that, it is a nicely covered topic and effect. Quote:

I believe it came out in Germany over a year ago.

I had many different versions already in my house but, for various reasons, they all failed during the testing stage (I'd explain why but this is an open thread). As I mentioned earlier, I think tension is pretty important (and the hardest part of construction, his tips in the gimmicks don't seem to be working for me as it "locks" and won't move, so I must be misunderstanding something). Regardless, it's still not that difficult. Did it for some company over the last couple of days (bunch of people were over for the Fedor fight last night) and lucky card seems way more impactful, which is different than my opinion as a performer. I use the pocket technique not the greeting card (my nickname) technique. Lem |
