Greetings!
Where would one go to find Teflon, to add to a gimmicked coin? Thanks! RevJohn |

What type of Teflon are you looking for? Sheets can be purchased online, I found some through Google.

That helps clarify my question...
or add to it, I guess. What kind is recommended, and what thickness? RevJohn |

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've never used Teflon with a coin before. I would assume you would need a sheet if you want to adhere it to a coin, but I'm not exactly sure. You can pretty much find whatever you need online, though finding it at a brick and mortar shop might be difficult.

Probably as thin as you can get. You may NOT be able to glue it and need double sticky scotch tape. They miht make teflon tape. Do not get the plumber's teflon tape from hardware stores... way to thin and impossible to use flat.

Look for "mouse tape" in a width that will gaff the coins you need. It's adhesive backed and to me acts identically to what the pro gaffers use, but some say it's not the same stuff. Works great for me!

Tango sells Teflon discs sized for different coins. Actually I cannot find them at the Tango site but you can find them at other online magic shops.
Here's one for example: http://www.trickshopmagic.com/ttefloncircle-half.html Jim |

Jim,
Thanks for the info... jprace posted some links to the Tango Teflon discs a few posts above. I am amazed that I didn't know these things exist. I guess until you really need one... Thanks Everyone. John |

Also, I hear these materials work quite well. I am waiting for some to arrive.

I use the self adhesive discs, and they work perfectly.

I inquired with Jamie Schoolcraft about getting this material from him and he told me that the method he uses is pretty hard. If you don't get the adhesive and the teflon part installed just right, it can leave a real mess, hard to reverse.
Maybe the self adhesive method Tango uses would be worth a try. Sammy

Sammy,
I just used them on my three TUCs and they worked like a charm. Jim |

I've had good luck with the Tango discs too, but I prefer the stuff I got from Jamie. It seems to be quite a bit thinner with a tighter/smoother surface, but both do the job. Jamie told me the stuff he uses costs $100.00 for just a small roll!
BTW- the stuff from Tango and Penguin are the same tape. |

The Tango Teflon disks are really nice in gaffed Slip-Sam ['s, especially if the Slip-Sam [ is steel gaffed and the base coin is magged (or a T.U.C., for instance). It makes a semi-locking, slick gliding, kinda thing that feels real good and defeats fumble fingers for a separation in any position. It's a slowed down move that way, without you having to think about it. That has spoiled me really bad. All the other combo gaffs I have now feel rickety/sloppy in comparison and talk way too much. It's hard to describe. Try it. If you have T.U.C., buy it a gaffed Slip-Sam. Many possibilities open up.
