I once saw Micahel Ammar do the one to a hundred at the Magic Castle close-up room. He handed out the hundred to spectator who handed to another to look at in the audience and that guy returned a one to Ammar who was flustered and didn't get the hundred back until after the show.

Lorenwade,
Glad you liked it. I'm just about ready to make the gimmick. Good magic to all, Eric |

Question: With you guys who run into grabbers frequently, are they predominantly men or women?
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

5 out of 5 have been women. It followed the "Whoa" statement.

Lol there is a performance of Hundy 500 by Greg on his In Action series where he is performing for some women. And one of them after the change snatches them right out of his hand, the look on his face is almost priceless.

Perform a one to thousand routine - and tell the audience before that you are only allowed to do so because the secret service did send an agent to prevent that money being spend. You will need an extra grim looking assistant standing beside you. Maybe you can make a reputation from that.

Personally, I wouldn't perform the effect with anything less than $20 bills. I find changing $1s to $2s, $5s or $10s ridiculous and embarassing. It would have to total at least $100.00 to be impressive. Others might disagree but to each his own. I recently switched to $100s after using $20s for half a decade and will never go back. As far as grabby spectators, I share the opinion that it has everything to do with presence, attitude and audience management but one can never be too careful with $500.00. I strive for elegance but perform everything as defensively as I drive.

I've performed Extreme Burn with $100's, $20's, $10's and $5's and have gotten the EXACT same reactions from the audience and I never felt or looked "ridiculous or embarassed". They were impressed with the effect no matter what denomination of bill I used but as you say "to each his own". As long as our audiences are entertained that's the main thing.
I've performed EB hundreds of times and am fortunate enough to have only had 1 "grabber" and yes, it was a woman. My reflexes were quicker then her's because I pulled my hand back before she got ahold of anything.

The next time you perform this effect, ask your spectators what denomination would impress them most and see if you don't get the EXACT same reaction. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and yes, I believe the entertainment should be the objective; however, I also believe that there are considerable varying degrees of strength when evaluating and comparing effects. I'm not going to kid myself by saying that I get the EXACT same reactions from a shell game as I do from organic fruit productions from a chop cup. For some strange reason I'm reminded of an Aesop's Fable entitled "Sour Grapes"

If it makes you feel ridiculous and embarassed by using $5's or $10's then by all means use $100's. It's really no big deal. All I said was that I have gotten the same reactions with a $5 as I did with a $100's. Again, to each his own.
For some strange reason I'm reminded of the phrase "lighten up".

This is one reason why I carry a Taser, if someone grabs my hundreds and tries to run they will be 'shocked' at my response LOL

I have personally seen the Hundy performed with $20s and with $100s, and neither I nor anyone else who has witnessed this magical miracle has had the EXACT same reaction regardless of the denominational change. There is something about five...count them...five Benjamins staring you in the face that $5s or $10s cannot compete with, not even $20s. Anyone who disputes this is fooling themselves and has never used $100s. Why not use Monopoly money if you get the same reaction? Come on now! I have even witnessed spectators when the Hundy is performed with $1s to $20s ask if the performer could change the $1s to $100's instead. Contrary to the expression "Less is More", in this case "More is always More". By the way, why would anyone "GRAB" a $5.00 bill?
If you are going to change money, you should make it count. I for one am reminded of the phrase "Anti-climactic". |

That was somewhat of an Extreme Burn in the Heiny. If it makes no difference to spectators then I should get the EXACT same reactions by transforming food stamps into $1 bills. I'm just having fun with you mysto and mean no offense We are all brothers in magic and the entire world is our stage.

It's all good remendez! No offense taken at all. I enjoy the wealth of information we can all learn from people like you and others. I like the "spirited discussions" we can have.
