I much prefer the non-gimmicked version...granted it has it's disadvantages but I don't care to be "all gimmicked up" worrying about the right type of clothing etc. Plus the fact that the non gimmicked ver. can be set up 30 minutes in advance and it only takes a few seconds to prep the bottle is a plus... I even did this with a Gallon Milk Jug...not in a performance but just to see if it would work and it worked well!
I was at a friends house for dinner, had a bottle of water....later prep'd the bottle and performed it and it really was a hit. Of course the non gimmicked version is something I learned in school many years ago. However, I would never have thought about using it as a magic/mentalism effect. So I guess I paid for a "reminder". It does work and it is a fooler. I can't speak to the gimmicked version as I haven't used it and likely never well. It seems there are those who have used it with some nice success though. Good luck! Bk |

I got this one and was well worth the money. I don't think it can be done with a borrowed bottle, but I reall don't care about that. The effect uses a regular bottle and it can be fully examined so...
My only concern is that the setup wont last too long, other than that I rate this 10/10! |

I guess the concern would be doing this for younger folk at the wrong time who might have played with this in class.
Go Solar Seth! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjW18-0eB2Y Note this is not the procedure used on the CRUSH video so do not worry. This is the science experiment that people here are talking about. Better results http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBQHNmOIgmg Of course CRUSH does not dip the bottle in cold water so obviously you should buy the product to learn how he suggests doing it. He is taking some of the look of science out of it and if you do this for an older group, as the responses here have shown, well most will not put two and two together. |

Why is this a concern. Anyone can buy Crush from any of the many magic stores on line or local. What makes you think Thinkgeek makes it worse.
Really many magic effects get exposed on line since ANYONE can buy them. Kids or adults that do not really want to do more than just figure it out and then tell everyone. Long gone are the days that you would have to earn the right to buy certain effects. Al Flosso would tell kids they were not ready yet if they wanted something advanced. I say since similar things are taught in science class, that is a bigger issue since with ThinkGeek they still have to buy it but in class it is free. It would be worse if it was in a retail outlet chain. |

I have read this entire thread and I think this is a winner. Gonna grab it as soon as I can. Coin in bottle...not completely impromptu, but I have gotten some of the strongest reactions ever with that simple yet amazing effect. I am sure this is the same deal. -DP

Hello everyone! I'm new, from Italy. About crush no gimmick: I seem to have sensed that the bottle must be special (not straight ones, but those rounded up and down). Is that right? And then the water must have a minimum temperature to work? And how long to stay in the bottle? Ten minutes? An hour? Boh ...
Thanks for the news ... |

Received CRUSH yesterday,& performed the non-gimmick version at two gigs today. The reaction (about 25 people in each) was one of disbelief and utter amazement. Thanks Eric.
On related note, the Gimmick I recieved in incomplete. I PM'd you and await your reply. Magic770
