Failed Magician Inner circle Still working on the DL even after made 2100 Posts |
Anyone care to put up a good and quick review on this? I know this is best when they use some certain types of mobile phone. The one that Oz said is actually widely used down here so I'm interested in getting this.
HOWEVER, how practical is this? I saw the demo when he did this on a stage and the audience was sitting far back but yet Oz can tell which name he/she was looking at. It looks like a real magic. So I want to know if this is hassle-free, and requires no preparation at all. I know that sometime demo video will be edited, that is why I want to make sure that the routine is fairly easy. Thanks.

So....has anyone actually been working this routine into their walk around?
I know Oz wouldnt normally put out things that arent worker material but just wondering if anyone else has adapted this to their walk around act...or even stage..? |

I like it. I use a Blackberry and so do most of the people I work with. So it is perfect for impromptu situations. Its effectiveness is dependent on the type of phone you are using. Oz says it works fine with most phones (though not Iphones), and I will take his word for that, but I've only tried it on the BB, which is, I believe, what it was made for. I don't know if it would play big enough for most stage shows (though Oz does include a stage performance, which looks good), but would be fine for a parlor effect. It really is practical, hassle-free and requires no setup. It is designed to be performed with a borrowed phone and is otherwise completely impromptu. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Lumberjohn,
Do spectators have a clue as to the method? Or does it get killer reactions? Regards, Mike |

I've only performed it four times, but no one had a clue as to the method. Everyone was amazed. Keep in mind that, like any revelation of a thought of word, number, etc., your presention will be the key to the strength of your reactions. This could be done very quickly without much buildup, but in my opinion is much stronger with a big buildup.
The only thing I don't like about the effect is that you have to touch the phone after your spectator has made their selection. I would prefer the effect to be hands off by this point. But the touch can be very quick, and I suspect it will be immediately forgotten. No one even mentioned it to me after the performances. Let's just say everyone's attention was where I wanted it to be rather than where I didn't want it to be. |

Sounds good. Sure you are limited to blackberries...but they really are everywhere.

I have done it every chance I get.
Complete stunner! I play it out as a process of reading their mind. In steps, makes it more believable. At the end, I finish, and then just as I walk away I state, wait, does this JANET have a last name, don't tell me, but does she, and they will nod their head....then I come back and reveal her last name, and BAM.........speechless.... Its not difficut but it certaintly helps if you have used a Bberry device before. Actually if you "fool" with a Bberry (a friends etc)for a few minutes you will completely understand this and be up and running immediately. It is a killer effect.

I'm not one to review things but I need to give credit to oz on this one...mainly because I'm suprised there are not many reviews on this
curveball is POWERFUL. even if you don't have a blackberry you can practice with a friends and get the method down in a day. if you are concerned with not enough people having the right phone...if you are a worker you will find someone in a group with a blackberry 9/10 times. as a stand alone effect its great. oz also shows you how to use it in conjunction with a one ahead routine and also using Whats in a Name, a routine on his Abyss dvd. this can also be used for parlor/stage. and that is explained in detail My favorite part was his teaching on the revelation of the name. The acting/subtleties will be useful for those new to mentalism. I'd like to hear from other people that are using this. |
