Duane addresses his opinion on this very difference as well in his ADVANCE article. Just on a completely different magical sidebar, I did receive Christopher Ballinger's "Ransom" DVD yesterday from http://www.magicgeek.com and viewed it last night. This bill switch routine will in fact work perfect with the new multi-colored trillion dollar bill tracts from http://www.livingwaters.com The DVD is shot very clearly and the instructional portion is very well done (in my view) and is easy to follow. There has been much written on various bill switches over the years including a large hardbound book that I believe was entitled "Switch" (I don't own it)- so it is not all that new in terms of a brand new principle or anything is my guess- but the Ransom DVD still a good accessible resource if you are interested in quickly learning a bill switch for use in evangelism.

Found it- the "Switch" book is by John Lovick and sells for about 50 bucks. So my guess is that book has a number of bill switches that can be used with these tracts from Living Waters...

MagicBus,

I usually buy coins from LivingWaters. I've been thinking about getting the bills from them, but can you tell me if they are the same size as legal tender bills.

I'd love to use them for Extreme Burn if they are. And, they would be cool to use for the many different other bill switches out there.

Yep, they are the exact same size. I even made up an old original "Slow Burn" set using them. So if you lose your made up set, you are only out a few dollars and the trillion dollar bills... MagicBob, on the other hand, uses real hundreds- no way! What I like about the "Ransom" is you can give away the bill. With Slow Burn, I guess you could put the gimicked bills in the pocket and then quickly exchange them for the give aways. MagicBob does "Slow Burn" on the original (near the bottom of our web site) More Than Magic! show #3 at the 7:50 mark into the program. The new trillions from http://www.livingwaters.com have more color on them now and look better. I think Kirk Cameron said something like if you stacked one dollar bills on top of each other, a trillion would be a stack 63 miles high into space... That's a lot of money- and it looks like our treasury will be printing more...

Thanks for that info MagicBus. Smile

I'm ordering the bills right after I finish this post.

I got the new Tillion Dollar bills today- they have a little more color on them. They are a smidgen larger than a one dollar bill- a tiny fraction of an inch- but if it has to be the exact size of the regular bill you may have to shave the edges with a razor blade a tiny bit. I am going to put the church web site I am a member of (Lighthouse Community Church in Kalamazoo) or the http://www.ChristianMagician.org website in the little scroll area on the back side of the bills before I give them out. With just a few of these, you can pay off the entire national debt!

The "Through The Eye Of The Needle" trick is advertised on page 16 of the February, 2011 Linking Ring. Also on that page is a note about The Laflins appearing at Michigan Magic Day April 29 and 30 http://www.fabmagic.com or http://www.colonmichiganmagic.com for more information

MagicBus:

Have combed the vids looking for your presentation but have not yet found it. Interested in your opinions of the finished routine.

I keep thinking I would film my routine- even have the silk camel made up- but when we filmed (and we did that about 4 weeks ago)- I always run out of time after filming MagicBob, SuZie's chalk art, and the other two magishes there who came to do stuff. So I did not end up doing it yet on camera- but I may run in there sometime next week and just film myself. Anyway, yet another video program should be out shortly- it turned out great I thought and included Laflin's "The Bible Way" along with several brand new Gospel effects by MagicBob-including "The Vanishing Area Paradox" that Kerry Kissler had in his "Magic Beans" column in The Christian Conjurer several years ago. Duane Laflin by the way is performing, lecturing, and having a dealer booth this weekend (Friday and Saturday) in Coldwater, Michigan for Michigan Magic Day.
