Have had only two of Joe's effects; the Money Paddle and the 4A-A-A-Aces Paddle. I found the Money Paddle too thick in the handle to work for me and ended up selling it at a loss. The 4-Aces is a very clever paddle routine but absolutely impossible for me to perform. Have heard that from others in my skill level say the same thing. Had to sell that too. That all said, Joe's craftsmanship is quality at its best with regard to machine work. Also expensive. I'd like to own a Joe Porper original effect that I can handle as a new magician with only the basics of sleights and skills behind me. Can anyone recommend a Porper effect someone like me can handle? Thanks! Best, Bob

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

The Porper Strong Box is one of his best props. Incredibly well made with superb craftsmanship, great routine, etc. It is basically a Lippincott box that can be used as such, or you can use the supplied routine for a unique effect. The price is high ($250 or so), but it will absolutely last a lifetime.

I have three of Joe's paddle effects, and after just a bit of concentrated practice they seem fairly easy to use. As said, the craftsmanship is superb...

I guess I gotta go with The Strong Box as well. It's beautiful, works like a charm, and fools magicians who think it's another Lipencott effect.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
