I have searched high and low but perhaps I needed to search more in the middle for an old post that everybody contributed to that had funny quips and lines dealing with rope routines.
I tried here and in the rope section but to no avail. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks.
In loving memory of Hughie Thomasson 1952-2007.
You brought something beautiful to this world, you touched my heart, my soul and my life. You will be greatly missed. Until we meet again “my old friend”. |

I might just as well start with this rope trick. I seldom get very far into my act before people in the audience start saying "Somebody get a rope!"

Magician: "do you like card tricks?"
lady spec: "sure..." magician: "too bad... we're gonna do a rope trick! you like rope tricks?" magician: "look... it's just like the one you got lying around in the bedroom..." magician: "cut off the ends... now we have a rope with... no ends." Those lines are used by magicians all over... Watch Michael Finney's routine as well as Copperfield's, which can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytqI9QXWvco Good Luck |

"This trick tends to be a bit knotty."
"This is an ordinary rope, just like the kind you can get from any magic shop." "These ropes are equal in length. Especially this one..." "you're KNOT laughing now!" (When handing out the small peice of rope from the professor's nightmare) "And you've got the little peice. (Don't worry, I hear that sort of thing doesn't matter)"

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable. |

Is this REALLY the level of "funny" that we're looking for as magicians? I'm not saying anyone is but.... if you are looking for "funny" material among lists of tired one-liners... ouch!

I hand the rope to an audience member for inspection and ask is this the first time you have ever been tied up. The audience will take if from there.
