My father in law planned his funeral with two memorial services and a 50 plus mile limo ride to the cemetary. I cancled all that and he got folded chairs at the VA cemetary... The point is he had three people outside of his children and me at the funeral. Two were drunks that both claimed he told them that he was leaving them his property, which was actually my property, and the third was a drunk who showed up to see if there were any drinks and then asked for my father in laws car, which had by that time been stolen already by one of the other two drunks which I then had to threaten to get the car back.

Either way on my grave I'd want to have written:

Al was his buddy,
Danny his pal,
he was smoother than silk,
and the size of a cow....

I want to be remembered as an awesome independent wife, mother and nurse who always stood up for the right reasons, no matter who she offended or what retribution she would endure. I also want to be remembered as kind, giving, and a Christian.

Who?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

However, if I may be serious for a bit...

It is a great exercise to know what you want to do NOW. (We really don't know how much time we have left...)

Try it.

I'll bet you five bucks he shows up here at the mention of his name. A great card guy, but that's about it.

I don't know how my post ended up in another thread, but I guess I have to repost it here...?

I'd like to be remembered as having taken revenge on the guy who bullied me at school from first day in first grade, to last day of ninth grade. He has had 27 years to regret and call me and ask for my forgiveness, but he has not done that. He has not changed a bit. He still have the same evil smile on his face when I see him today.

The thread recently by stoneunhinged "Bombs in Gottingen" really puts it in perspective. A bomb kills people 65 years after it was dropped.

You just never know when your time will come.

How would you like to be remembered?

Was it the bush or the pole that got you confused?
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.--Yeats

I really don't care. In the greater scheme of things I'm very inconsequential. Once the people who know me, and the people who knew them, also, are dead... I will have been all but forgotten.

I'm not going to be famous in this lifetime, and my extended family is sufficiently disintegrated that "ancestor worship" is out of the question as well. Acceptance of this fact has been very liberating, in my life.

I've made some nice magic props that are of sufficient quality and durability that they will out live me, I am sure... And I suppose if anyone was so inclined they could dig up some history on me in "the literature", but again, I really don't care...

My goal is to enjoy the pitifully short amount of time I have on this earth as best I can, and not leave too big a mess for anyone else to have to clean up when I go.
