The performer displays a Royal Flush in a fan. The 5 cards are turned face down. One card is removed and placed in the performers pocket, the four remaining cards are dealt face down into the spectators palm. Performer explains that a Royal Flush is the best hand you can have. The performer asks the spectator "what is the best hand you can have with only four cards?" The spectator responds with "a four of a kind" or "the four Aces". The spectator turns the four cards on their palm face up. They are the four Aces! The single card is removed from the performers pocket. It's a Joker!
All cards are 100% examinable, no sleight of hand, no rough and smooth, no specially printed cards. Handmade gimmick does all the work. Great opening effect, quick reset. This is a very visual simple but effective opener. As advertised, everything is examinable (if that"s your thing) at the end.Reset is instant for your next table or group. This is a new item fom Solari and like everything he puts out, everything needed is included as well as handling instructions. If you are a beginner,no problem with this. if you are already a worker, you will now have an effective entertaining fast opener to get their attention. The beauty is that only 5 cards are used, no sticky cards, rough and smooth etc. You cleanly turn the cards face down and count 4 of them into a spectators hand. They are now involved in the trick (a good thing) and when they, not you turn over the cards, it is a four of a kind! Priced right and Recommended! |

The Mad Scientist of Magic has struck again with the help of Bill Wisch to leash onto the magic community a great little trick. Bob Solari is known for gaffed card tricks and this one is easy but packs a wallop. Worth looking into.

Just got it. Went directly to my wallet for that "carry with you everywhere" type of quicky that grabs their attention. Especially with the popularity of poker and tournaments over the last few years.
I've seen a similar principle in the past but like this updated version. For $9.95 you can't go wrong and it takes up no space in pocket or wallet. I've also pre-ordered "silver streak" which looks great. http://www.gmrcreations.com/bob/under15.htm#royalopener Thanks Bob! |

I finally got this and I'm glad I did. Royal Opener's got the great poker theme and as mentioned, the examinability and quick reset at the end are great. The gimmick looks very good and is well made, as is practically everything Bob Solari makes. The effect is super as you're going clearly from a royal flush to 4 Aces in the spectator's hands...and to tie it all together, the joker rounds out the 5-card hand. The effect is also simple to do.
Another effective variation which is similar in workings to Royal Opener, is Kozmic Kardz by Bob as well. In this case, the performer holds 5 indifferent cards and the spectator is asked to think of any one of the cards. After the performer removes what he thinks is their card, the spectator finds that the remaining four indifferent cards have changed into a four of a kind. And as a bonus/kicker effect, the performer can reach into his pocket and reveal that the card he removed was the spectator's chosen card. There's a simple routine that makes all of this happen and the similar gimmick certainly makes it that much easier. |
