Hi Craig! Thanks for being a guest on the Café.

Do you use a signed 'Card To Wallet' in your professional work? If so, what kind do you prefer?

Pat Page felt adding an envelope did nothing to enhance the effect, yet other Pro's feel it adds another element of impossibility ( of course it's what works for that individual that counts ). What are your thoughts on it?

Best,
Chris

Hey Chris

I love card to wallet and use it all the time. I tend to use the card to wallet in three different ways. Firstly I will normally end my ambitious card routine with a card to wallet kicker. Secondly I use the Matthew Dowden Card to Pocket routine off Party Animal (which is great by the way). This uses the card to wallet as a kicker finish and works really well. Finally I have a Pickpocket themed routine for card to wallet which I published on my DVD 'Locked In A Room Without Coins'. I love performing this routine I find the audience really buys into the premise. Recently myself and Russell Leeds have been playing around with David Regal's 'Passport' which is another really well constructed effect. Many years ago I used to use a Mullica Wallet so I am more than familiar with the handling (which feels similar in many ways).

I have never used an envelope when using card to wallet however. I know a lot of guys do but I tend to want to go straight to my next table without having to reset and having to reload an envelope would affect that. Plus the amount of times I use my wallet I would need to carry around about 40 envelopes an evening. If I ever did use an envelope though I would use John Van Der Put's routine which I loved the first time I saw it. The only time I use an envelope in my wallet is for a coin routine ironically. John Bannon put an excellent coin routine using an envelope and a wallet in his book 'Impossibilla'. The routine is brilliant and if I ever plan on performing the routine which I do from time to time I always use the envelope then.

Does this answer your question mate?

After years of yes, no, maybe, yes, might...I think it makes the effect more impossible. I use a self sealing envelope. You can pull it out and just hand it to them to open.

Great - I think if it works for you that's the main thing.

Have you seen John Van Der Put's routine for the card in sealed envelope?

Hey Craig,
since you are using the JOL Plus Wallet in your performances
I would like to point you to one of my routines I do with the JOL.

Maybe you can use this idea for your pickpocket routine or something.
Just a thought!

Greetings from germany.
