What is it? I have seen the name in print, but I am unaware if I have seen this done. A Café search yields mostly reviews about DVDs or book on this subject.

This is a really wonderful, very fast, one handed change. I think it's among the very finest and most elegant ways of exchanging one coin for another, in plain sight if need be. It reminds me of the one handed pass with a deck of cards.
It's cool because you can manage it with silver dollars and remain silent, and it can be done with any size or mix of coins up to that size. An inferior description to that described by Henry Hay can be found in Bobo, on page 12, if you don't have The Amateur Magician's Handbook.

If I'm not mistaken, Kainoa Harbottle teaches it in one of his routines in Coins On Edge.
You might also want to check out the Crimp Change by Marion Boykin.

There may be an updated EG2EG after Wesley James publishes a sleight of his to bring a coin into EG.

That's circa turn of the century, isn't it? How far back does this super-slick move go? Anyone know?

Kcg5, it's been mentioned here but check out my Crimp Change and not only find out what it is beyond whatever it was but all it can be and much, much more. Those that have actually seen me do this can attest that they haven't ever seen anything quite like it, then or now.

Mb's Crimp Change is beautiful. I have seen Marion do it via video and I have seen Loren Wade do it right in my face. Truly magical! I am still working to get it to look like these guys do. Worth the effort!

Mb217's Crimp Change goes one step further and is the natural evolution for one hand changes. The proof of this is that when you discover it, it's hard to believe that it had not already been in books for decades. Well it didn't.
Now seeing Marion do routines with his move is pure delight: it's just perfectly deceptive. Furthermore Marion is a very nice person and if you need help on some of his move, he'll be very pleasant.

I also can attest to the Crimp Change by Marion Boykin. I've been practicing this move for a few weeks now and it's a beautiful one handed change that can be done right n the spectators face. So many applications for this move.
Kind regards Sean |

The crimp change is a bargain at twice the price. I can't begin to tell you how many uses I've found for it.
The current economic crisis is due to all the coins I've vanished.

If you do go for Marions download make sure you get 'the Crimp change' and not 'The Crimp Change routine'. The former goes into great detail on the move and also includes the 'blow change', while the latter is a full routine using the crimp change move and various others. It is a beautiful routine that is entirely sleight of hand but you need to have the basic move mastered first.
Kind regards Sean |

Good tip Sean, Start with the Crimp Change tutorial and build from there! Marion's work on this cool old sleight has proved invaluable for me and to this day the "Blow Change" and it's derivatives are my all time favorite in coin magic!
I LOVE the Blow Change!!!!! MMc |

Ya, this crimp change that Marion brought to light is a really fun sleight that coin workers should explore. Not terribly difficult (except for me with small hands and silver dollar sized coins). When I saw him perform this for the first time, it was one of those sleights that I promised myself I would learn - very worthwhile! Best one handed change I have ever come across.
To see a difficult thing lightly handled gives the impression of the impossible.

Thanks guys and I appreciate the continuing love affair Mick...
And though the Crimp Change can be used as just a Change (Used it in that hit & run way all week down in Florida at the Big East Baseball Championships) but it's a lot more than that... The action can be used in many, many ways that I've shown in my effects, like Crimp Karate Koin and does anyone remember my Coin 2 Key?
