That would be unethical?

Really?

According to who?
And why would they want to look at the book or DVD?

BTW, I often show the performance segments of videos to friends to ask what they think of the items.

What if they're Magicians? And they want to learn from my Collection?

And let's say, there are 10 of them...

One of the difficulties with ethical questions is the line between ethical and unethical can always be moved slightly enough that most would not notice or care. Therefore, we can eventually, one small step at a time, get to almost anything being ethical. Kind of like the question of very gradually increasing the temperature in the hot tub so that no one notices.

So, what if -
they are magicians...
there are 10 of them...
they have been out of work for 9 months...
they swear never to repeat any secrets...
they support the red cross...
they have each saved someone's life...

But mine is a real situation. We are a bunch who gather every once in awhile to meet and talk Magic and watch Videos.

They're all mainly part time Magicians. Some have TV Shows. Non Out Of Work. (What do you think we are? Bums? Smile)

Of course they will not tell any Secrets to Non Magicians. They all swear as well. Smile

No one belongs to the Red Cross. (As far as I know...)

No one has saved anyone's life, though there was that one time with the girl... Smile

So is it ok, in your opinion?

Sorry, I thought you were just playing a game of Scruples.

I think we all draw the line in a different place. For me, a group of like-minded magicians getting together to share would be totally OK. I don't condone exposure, nor copying books or DVD's and passing them out. I also believe the originators of effects and ideas need to be properly compensated.

That said, it has to be great fun and inspiration to share with your fellow magicians, which I don't think would work well if each member was not able to participate openly due to having to protect their secrets.

Man does that sound like a neat thing- where can I join? Smile

Jim

p.s. Good laugh at your "one time with the girl" comment...

No worries mandarin...

We get together every few months or so... Used to be more frequent but in the last few years everyone's a bit more busy, some got married so...

Btw, I'm in Malaysia if you're ever in the region... Smile

The girls thing is true, I'll leave it at that... Smile

Guess it's ok to share. Thanks.
