Welcome aboard Tom! I'm eagerly awaiting Vortex in my mail box. I know how ingenious your thinking/material is from the ebooks I've purchased from you in the past. I too am looking forward to following your posts here this week.

Nice living in the same town as Hermetic Press. My copy arrived today.
I think I found a new piece in a Notebook section for my act that I have been looking for. I've already put the book down and started to work it out for me. It's not worth the price of the book...yet. Looking forward to digging in.

Hello Tom, It's really good news that the Café is honoring you. Working on one of your books, I modified a large load system of yours (from the bag on the floor) to put it on a bicycle clip at the ankle under the pants. Very nice and the distance is much shorter than from the sole (I'm getting old so I'm not as soft as I used to). Thanks for the idea that led me there.
You are one of the really great creators of new concepts around classic magic routines: your research on Cylinder and Coins is superb, your ideas for the multiplying bottles are very fresh for a trick that has been around for a few weeks. Your balls routine is also something of which memories are made. Your card work is always very intelligent and pertinent. Your book, VORTEX, now comes like a cherry on the cake: it's crowning the first part of your life and the crown is deserved. I enjoyed our relationship over the past few years tremendously and feel at ease recommending people here at the café to buy anything from you that touches magic effects which could be of interest to them: none of your publication is a me-too. All of your writings offer substantial new twists in presentations and/or methods Thank you for this: I'm pleased to add my tribute to the ones in this section of the Café and feel proud to be your friend

Woohoo!!! My mail man just made my day. Vortex is in the house!!!
Tom, care to share any afterthoughts on your new book with us? Any recommendations on what part of the book one should read first? Thanks! Roberto

I too just recieved your book and have been enjoying it greatly. I've been working on your Linking finger ring handling as I've always wanted to use this trick as a lead in for a nest of boxes routine but disliked the traditional handling.

Lawrence O: I'm happy that you've found use for my small thoughts and ideas! And knowing some of those you are friend with, I feel honored that you include me in that group.
John: Thanks! Roberto: Well, I just received the book myself, and are still becoming giddy by looking at it, so it's too early for me to have any afterthoughts. But, if you want my recommendation, I think you should start with the Foreword by Peter Rosengren, and then the Acknowledgements on page 253. After that, you're on your own. Payne: I hope you'll find my handling useful! |

Welcome Tom!
Your book arrived yesterday, and I'm going to begin digging into it while I'm out-of-town this weekend. I'll no doubt have some questions when I get back. Until then, thanks for all you've contributed to the art of magic, particularly with respect to your Genii columns and, now, Vortex. |
