Hi Guys,
We just put this week’s ‘Wizard Product Review’ online and we had a ‘first look’ at the new WOW. The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCuA0hdFd......embedded All the best, David & Craig

Thank you for the video review. The new WOW looks like it has some very interesting possibilities as outlined in your discussion. If Masuda could only keep the conterfeiters from marketing inferior knock-offs of his products it would be great. Did Murphys give you an anticipated delivery date?

Can someone tell the difference between the new WOW and this 'old' WOW:
http://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=43252 Hope the new one will be a lot cheaper! The gimmick seems to be really cool, but problem is that the spectator notices that a gimmick is used. Anyway it looks great and I have no idea how it works. |

Its not necessarily a "new" wow. its just a new version. the original wow allows you do to a visual card change with the faces. This version allows a visual change with the backs. And I don't think 55 dollars is unreasonable because once you try it you will see the fantastic reactions you get. As they said in the review, probably one of the best card tricks. And the spectator doesn't notice a gimmick, they notice the plastic sleeve that you place a card in. more like a prop rather than a gimmick. And if you are too worried about them wanting to see the sleeve, they sell an ungimmicked sleeve to switch if you really wanted to but ive never had that problem.

Hi Guys,
Quick question abt the original WOW. Assuming you are reasonably good at palming, could it be used to make the palmed card appear or does the spectator's card have to be inserted back into the deck? I'm toying with the idea of combining this with the Extractor for a visual card-flight effect....

I've had the original Masuda WOW since it first hit the market and have to agree, one of the most top notch products of the past several years! I like the idea of removing the sleeve and using it as a "shield" of sorts. Hmmmmmmmmmm........
I too agree the $55 US price tag for the old would be suitable for the new but just because you may feel that's a bit pricey, PLEASE don't buy one of the rip offs that's sure to follow! Support the creator in all your magic purchases! MMc |

This is surely a good gimmick! I love the demo. Is this available through U.S. shops?

Have had the original from the get go and I switch out the gimmicked one for the non-gimmicked one. Great bit of eye candy if properly used and some justification for introducing it in an effect. Anyone have any idea when this new version is set for release?

Thanks for the Review guys! WOW backdesign looks fantastic.
Another thing, Craig, did you ever thought about combining your Keymaster with Mark Leveridges "Key-Volution"? I think it would allow for a stunning experience. If it makes sense please drop a pm. all the best, Martin |

I have a question about WOW in general. Do people question why you are using a piece of plastic to make the card change? Don't they believe that it's the apparatus that is doing all the work and not the magician?
I understand that stage and platform use boxes, tubes and the like, but this is close-up. I agree it looks cool when the change happens but to me an Erdnase looks more magical. I am going to assume I am in the minority.

Sly- I've been using WOW ever since it was released and when I do the reveal I immediately ditch it back into my pocket! No one has EVER questioned the use of the sleeve! I'm not saying that it will never happen but to this date noone has ever asked to see it.

Sly, you are not in the minority. But I think it's a question of HOW the sleeve is handled.
For example, the magician who used it on Letterman didn't use it very effectively. He simply pulled out a strange plastic sleeve, stuck a card into it and made it change. Looked very suspicious and really drew attention to the sleeve as just a magic prop. I'm not the only one who does this but, I put a couple of business cards in mine. When I remove the sleeve from my pocket, I say, "Here, let's isolate the card to make it sleight of hand proof... I'll put it inside my business card holder..." I remove the business cards and put the playing card into the sleeve. This justifies everything nicely. I say I'm using the sleeve to make everything sleight of hand proof. I also justify the sleeve by calling it a business card holder. Also, the way I structure my routines with it, it's out of play and back into my pocket before the effect is over. To this date, I haven't been questioned about the sleeve. Some people use it as a name tag holder. I think it's all how you handle it. It's a GREAT device and looks like pure magic. I should also say that I don't use it as much as my Sudden Impact effect but I still use it on occasion.

I'm sure more ideas are out there, that is just a couple. It would be all in the way you present it. I like to use props that look like ordinary things, and when I do use props that are not ordinary, I try to compare them with something ordinary, so the audience will relate to that ordinary object and think what I am using is ordinary. Or I just call it an ordinary name,( in WOW's case, a clear envelope,) and people will believe what you say. But, I have a regular WOW and never use it. I use sleight of hand for my card changes for lay people, and get gasps when I do them, so I must be doing something correct. I WILL get the NEW WOW. I LOVE new props. I have many many drawers full of 100's of card props! When I go to work(I work full time as a magician), I only bring about 5-7 things. Sometimes I will bring a new prop. But after I do my tried and true routine, with a built up ending, my audience is to the point of brain fry, and the logical conclusion of my final 4 phase card routine(each routine can stand by itself) signals a conclusion. Since I do surrounded corporate walk around in big ball rooms with NO tables, they can walk away. There is usually 100 things to do at these super parties. A lot of times some people stay, and I can show them more. So I carry extra for those really into magic. Sometimes I carry a new prop for months and never use it, but maybe once or twice, so I retire it to one of my drawers. But I love to keep them as magic is also my Hobby. Sorry I got carried away, but I really like the New Wow, and would like to try it as a finale for my ambitious. Just to see if it gets a stronger reaction then my sleight of hand version. Thanks for the review guys! ACE

Ok, I see how it can be justified. I guess I can't figure out how it's better than a sleight. But of course, different strokes...

I use a Mullica wallet and a very good explanation for the plastic sleeve, and then give simply lay the un-gimmicked sleeve on the table after I'm finished without asking the spec. to examine it. You would be surprised how many people don't pick it up!

As with any prop, it is all in the presentation. WOW is a fantastic prop, extremely clever, but I feel it needs a strong routine to go with it, so as to remove all heat from the prop itself. I have owned the prop for a long time, but it took me a while to come up with a routine that I feel is worthy of the gimmick - the premise being 'Do you want to see a pretty good card trick, or do you want to see the most amazing card trick you've ever seen in your life?'. Due to the routining, there is little heat on the gimmick (by the way, I also use the business card holder idea to help justify the prop). It is a great prop, and well worth the asking price (I actually bought 2, so I could have 2 different cards revealed for doing walk-around).

Slyhand, well, it can be better than sleight of hand because it looks cleaner and is more visual. But as others have said, you need to present it right.
