Dear folks,
I want to ask an effect that the magician produces a produces a very very long scarf and then turn the long scarf into a cape. I saw this in the James Dimmare's act and I like this very very much. May I know the inventor of the effect and where can I buy this method? Thanks for your help. Henry |

It was a custom thing made for James. Part of the effect is in Rice's, called stretching a streamer if I remember the name right.

James Dimmar's Blendo Streamer to Cape is his property and is not commercially available.
If you would like a similar effect called "Bag to Cape" that is available on the market. Here is one place it is advertised. http://madhattermagicshop.com/magicshop/......_id=3151 |

The blendo of a streamer to cape effect actually predates James Dimmare and was a notable part of Salvano's act.

Hello there, a gentleman from Norway Torano (who also invented tossing a Dove to a neck scarf!)... did a dove act with one dove. Near the end of his act, he did a stretching silk then a " Cape Blendo ". HE was the first... Salvano came up with his independently. When the bag to cape came out I decided to do the effect after talking with Torano from Norway but my method is different from the two above while resembling Salvano's. Originally it was a separate part of the act, where I stretched the scarf and Lisa held one end and I tied the other to a mic stand . Cut it. did the sliding knot, opened it at the middle, retied and slide it a few feet from Lisa untied it again bundled it up and , changed to the cape.
When I met Salvano I showed him my method so He did d no think I copied him and we became fast friends. When people would come up to me and ask me if I copied so and so etc the story was so *** long that I finally asked Tomas (Salvano) if I could just say he gave me it as ours were so close in viewing the routine. He said of course. Years later after talking with Torano I asked him permission from some other cool things in his act,( I really wanted the Dove toss to neck scarf ) which he granted. Some of these are in the new act. So you see unless you invent it, or ask permission from someone who did or has something close to what you are creating you can never own it. That being said You can see were the routine is, as it is in my act, and that method belongs to me, until, if and when I decide to pass it on. Dimmare |

James takes considerable effort to explain where and how he came to the effect.
As another good friend (along with James ...I would say) Levent has postulated, you can always tell those who stole an effect from those who have created it independently....because they CAN"T tell you the sequence of events that led to it's creation! I thank James for adding to our collective knowledge and kindly hope that he knows I didn't intend to imply anything other than it predates him. Al best wishes-JNeal

It is Toreno from Norway, not Torano. He is one of my all time favorite acts.

Well thank you JNeal. Nope, never thought anything else other than your point, Everything predates me that *** Jann Madd stole my Dove toss bit (B.O.B) before I was even born. ( Did I spell that right? maybe not) but ouch Bojan ... so I can't spell, either Could Channing all the best, Dimmare
BTW I'm looking for an illegal copy of my act, yes I know, but I'm hoping this time someone videoed me when they were not suppose to. When I Starred at the Palladium in the Ron MacMillian Magic Spectacular. Yes the one were the Dove cage almost went flying into the Orchestra pit. Salvano And I were on the bill and he was before me, when I arrived I already had them edit my music so the act was shorter as I thought it was correct to take the cape out as it was so close and he was first. In his words a few years before.."You don't even close with it it". He had asked me if it was still in my act and I said . Not tonight...but rumors get started. People assuming I kept it in. I wouldn't do that to a friend. So like I always do, I want to keep the record straight. Unfortunately because of the near mishap with the cage, no ones seems to remember the rest of the act. This is good and bad. Thnaks in advance for all your help... Mahalo |
