Hi,
You may remember I posted here a few months ago asking advice on a photo/video shoot I was planning. Here, at last are some of the results. http://jeffreykorst.com/test I'm mostly happy with the copy and overall design. I've tried to write a good headlines and calls to action. The biggest thing to do is finish editing some video. I intend to have video on the landing page. I am not completely happy with the gallery page--at least in terms of its position in the template, and especially where the caption shows up. Also, the contact form is not live and I'm still toying with different colors for the links. Not sure they are readable enough. That said, what do you think? Thanks, Jeffrey Korst |

Two suggestions:
1) I'd like to see your picture on the home page, and 2) I think you should cut the line: "I was quite successful until I developed a serious lung disease caused by the birds I used in the act" from your bio. It's not necessary and even a bit depressing! Good start. Jim |

Thanks for the comments, Jim.
Regarding the photo on the home page--was thinking it more important to show the happy, amazed people. At some point, I was intending to replace that photo with a video (I've read that video on the landing page is a good thing) What gets priority? Video, head shot or reaction shot? I suppose I can get a head shot (or performance shot of me) and a video in . . . Also, I've rewritten some of the copy on the landing and bio pages. Better? I think the part about the lung problem was largely to answer the question of why I'm not still doing the review/ice show work. But I do agree that it could cause negative reactions. Anyone else want to chime in? Thanks very much, Jeffrey |

I agree with Jim about having a picture of you on your home page. I want to know who the person is that I'm hiring. I know that you live in area code 510, but I don't know what state 510 is in. You take a good picture

Hi,
I would take out all the pictures from the galerie, that look a bit like sitting arround with friends and would only keep the ones that look like professionell work! btw, you have some really good action shots - I like that! rené |

However, it is also important to connect those reactions/results to you. Just a few examples of how I've done this: The header in my web site shows an action audience of mine enjoying my performance but features my own picture and the impression that they are watching me http://www.amazingcompanyevents.com/NewG......ader.jpg Here is a photo display I put together that blends actual audience reaction shots with live performance shots. I think it works nicely to communicate results as well as connecting those results to me. http://www.amazingcompanyevents.com/user......tion.jpg Here is a performance shot showing a reaction with myself being in the same frame http://www.amazingcompanyevents.com/user......0Web.jpg My point is that unless you tie your image and identity into your marketing (the central images specifically), people will not mentally connect or associate the reaction shots to you. Just one additional general comment (not to anyone specifically) on audience shots: get your own reaction shots rather than buying stock images or taking someone else's. I feel that, providing you actually provide a great experience to your audiences, it is quite easy - and more genuine - to get your own photos. I've actually been contacted by a few people who want to use my audience photos for their own marketing. Asking is certainly the best way to go and I appreciate that. The fact is that my clients were generous to allow me to use photos of their party and it would look be completely inappropriate for me to violate their trust and pass photos to others. I hope I inspired some ideas. Good luck with your marketing! |

Scott is right also. The peoples reaction is important, but you must be in the middle of the shot to show that it is you that they are reacting to.

Jeffrey,
I like the simplicity of your pages... not too cluttered and to the point. I agree with the suggestions above. |

Well it's a little scary how much time has gone by since I last posted about this. I've been working on the demo reel--that's still not ready, but I've added video of one of the stage routines I do. When I get a demo video finished, it will go on the front page. Meanwhile, I've been rewriting copy and learning about SEO.
Regarding Al's comment about not knowing where I am. The title page and the first line under the headline say where I am. Not enough? As it is, it's going live as soon as I can work out some spacing issues. Testing shows on some browsers, lines bump into each other and some headlines are cut horizontally. Once I can get that straightened out (meeting with someone next week) it's going live. I've also been working on a new business card design, and would appreciate comments. It can be seen at: http://jeffreykorst.com/test/business_card.html Thanks to Scott Burton for the concept. I may do something similar in the header but don't currently have audience photos I think will work. Thanks again! |

Hi Jeff,
I took a quick look at your site and I agree with much that has been saying. I have a wide screen monitor and you site does not center on my screen. Put your name to the left of the page, let it be the 1st thing they read. I would put your name in Red, not white. Punch it up! Yes, you action picture should be on the home page, if you want to put a spectator shot as well, then you have to be in the shot as well. Just having reaction shots without you, can mean anything. Do you were your tails at the shows you are going after? If not put a shot of you in your current custom on the home page. A video on the home page is a bad idea to my way of thinking, as the first thing I want to know is who you are, then what you do, then what type of act do you give or have, and where do you work. Don't mix close-up and stage material, make a separate page for each. The photo galary is really useless, put the photos at different places around the text. Keeps it interesting. I won't go into what has already been said as there is great advice and...it's already been said. Nice to see you've still got the chops and what you're doing in place of the birds. Cheers!
