Well if he's been listening to me bugging him about it for the last ten years, he might be doing something about it.

IMO there are not enough superlatives for Whit as a performer, as a teacher, as a theorist and as a gentleman.
As I've said to Whit directly, I'm a much better magician because of what he has given us vis-a-vis the printed word (including his posts on this forum) and because of the bar his performances have set. For that--and a whole lot more--I'll be forever grateful. (If I hadn't been out of the country for more than a week I would have posted on this thread a whole lot sooner.) |

Mr Haydn is an inspiration for me to do better.
Each one of his posts has enlightened me and many of them have entertained me. I have seen him working only on film and I truly hope that one day I may be fortunate enough to see him in person. Thank Mr Haydn. Tom Fenton

When I visit the Magic Café, I find it more productive to choose what to read, not based on the topic of the thread, but rather based on who is posting in the thread. I always read threads in which Whit Haydn is active. His presence alone makes them worth reading.
Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz |

In my opinion Whit Haydn is one of the rare walking encyclopedia's of magic and performing and con games like three card monte. Besides what he writes in the Café the school of scoundrels - and scoundrels forum are great resources for any magician.

Whit Hayden is what every magician should be. Whit really understands magic and that is why I read every post with Whit’s name on it. Whit Hayden is one of the best magicians at routining a magic effect I have ever seen. Just watching Whit perform will make you a better magician.

Oh, yes. I have been writing a book for several years. It will be on the theory of magic. I have been running up a number of ideas from the book here on the Café for a long time. It has been very helpful to me in clarifying my ideas and having the input of so many thoughtful people.

OK, come on. Whit is a scoundrel and needs to be taken down a notch or two.
He obviously has problems getting books written. (Whit, you can always call on me for help. Just approach me with suitable humility.) |

You help the most when you deliberately provoke me. Some of my best explanations came from the times you did.

The best thing about Whit is that he practices what he preaches. It’s fine to spin a theory, but if you don’t test it, then it remains just a theory. Whit always proves what a fine performer he is in both stage and close-up.
Whit, I think someday you must finish that book about magic theory you started oh so long ago. We all appreciate everything that you have shared with us at the Café and the Forum. I know I have practiced what you have preached and I’m a better magician for it. |

I like Whit.... he makes me laugh
(All the other things having been said also being VERY true. Particularly his "common touch" with those of us at nowhere near his level.)
It is always darkest just before you are eaten by a grue.
