I just noticed I've never even considered doing anything with a trick wallet because it would look so odd for me to be carrying one.

I'm not a "girly" girl, that is to say, I usually wear dress pants a blouse and vest when working but most wallets would look strange.

Are any women out there using special wallets? If so which ones and what for?

I'm sure I could make a simple z fold or slit wallet out of a decorated check book style flat wallet but I'm wondering if something is already made for women.

Thank you.

Thank You Julie,

I'm not into having a custom wallet made at this time since I'm not sure what effects I'd be using it for or what attributes it would need.

I'm in the early exploratory stage and I was just wondering if there were such an item for sale already.

I will remember the name in case it comes to that. I take it this is not Jerry O'Connell the actor.

By the way, I like your new photo.

This is a 'dilemna' that has been encountered and overcome by many of us in the past. Let us know which effect you want to do and I'm sure one of us can let you know a way to overcome the wallet problem.

I think a fellow named Jeremy Weiss at the Penny Forum is releasing a manuscript on a DIY wallet customization techniques. I own almost every wallet out there and in the end, I ended up with a custom made one from some artists I provided the desing to.

Thanks, Dr Spektor (man you are everywhere!). Here are the first three paragraphs of WalletKiller. (Meant to mock the male domination of Mentalism.)

"Sooner or later everyone eventually gets infected with the idea of purchasing a gaffed wallet. The concept is so delicious. These wallet sirens call to us with their promise of an easy way to carry a knockout effect at all times. "You never leave home without us anyways, so why not take advantage of our pouty lips.", they say.

But after your first purchase, heartbreak sets in. A wallet is, unfortunately a very individualized item. The wallet usually isn't a perfect replacement for what you have been used to--what you long for. Often it is the wrong color or the wrong size or doesn't have the right number of pockets needed to carry your actual stuff. There is always some Achille's heel. Plus now comes along another hot, sexy new number with an additional clever feature built in.....a shorter skirt, if you will. Now there is the new purchase and another $130 spent and another prop sitting in a drawer. Oh, the heartbreak!

And what of our female psychic entertainers. No wallets are marketing to fill their particular needs! Oh, the sexism!"

So, maybe WalletKiller can be of help.

Hi Mary
There are several books out there for wallets and how to gaff them up. I would suggest looking into the books first, and then deciding if it is something you want to give a go at. Hit the second hand store and buy some cheapies to hack up and play with , to see if you are comfy with them. There are a couple of wallet effects that I carry about, but they do not involve gaffing at all, so they can go into any style as long as it meets the needs of the items carried.

It occurred to me that someone should make a hand-bag that's a change bag. I even have a great name for it, "The Change Purse".
