I post this here because it is soooo Bizarre....in many ways!
I am THRILLED to tell you strange magicians about a book I wrote the introduction to and basically edited. Incredibly, David Copperfield volunteered to write an appreciation in the book. It came out great.... It is a reprint of a VERY BIZARRE and AMAZINGLY TWISTED old catalog that can hardly be described..It must be seen to be believed. I gave a good interview via the horror zine Fangoria. Here is a link to my interview which helps explain the tome! http://www.fangoria.com/index.php?id=118......emid=167 Here are a few links to give you visual insight Flickr - a bunch of photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fantagraphi......1086882/ The book is officially up for pre-sale on the FBI website: http://www.fantagraphics.com/catalog439 And plugged on their blog: http://www.fantagraphics.com/index.php?o......emid=113 |

This bizarre book I worked on has gained an appreciative following. Read my Q & A to find out more - shadow-dwellers and storytellers!

PLUS - Jon Racherbaumer gave the book generous and glowing coverage in the latest issue of Genii - pick it up, you won't regret it if you like the weird.....and so much more. |

And what a great book it is!
The unique content has been fleetingly described (I could never imagine anything like it and would have been hesitant to believe that there was really a company that actually sold these...*very strange things*... described & illustrated in the catalog) The catalog was marketed to secret societies. That's why most of us have ever heard of it!! I'm selling the book in my bookstores. It looks great, nice paper, production etc. A class act all 'round. Get it now before it goes out-of-print and becomes collectible... |

I used to have a 1970s reprint of a 1930s Johnson and Smith Catalog, obviously that had a lot of regular stuff in it to, but it seems similar to me. Would you say it is?
Posted: Aug 31, 2010 12:06am It looks great, the thing about these catalogs, like my old Johnson Smith catalog and my original Nelson Enterprises catalog is that I always get sad, because there is always so much stuff that I would like to order from them!

This Q & A I did for the publisher's website should amuse some of you and goes into more details.....
http://www.fantagraphics.com/index.php?o......temid=87 and YES! The book is out - http://www.amazon.com/Catalog-No-439-Par......0&sr=8-3 Posted: Aug 31, 2010 11:31am http://www.fantagraphics.com/index.php?p......temid=62 I hope and suspect that now that this Pandora's Box of inventive, really crazy and true bizarreness has been opened.....I shall slowly see popular culture, including magic, subtly inspired by the DeMoulin brother's twisted visions! |
