==Close-Up Card Magic Lorayne==

Lazy Man's Card Trick - Easy
Salt-Less - Easy
Take Me To Your Leader - Easy
Little Fella' - Big Fella' - Easy
Stop! - Easy
Out of This Universe - Easy
Sam-Ultaneous - Easy
Lorayne's Poker Deal - Easy
Sensitive Touch - Easy

==Classic Collection 2==
I have not explored this book in detail yet, but here are some effects I liked from my initial skim.

Lorayne's Poker Deal #2 - Easy
Four By Four (This one's really great!) - Easy
Instant Magic Square (Excellent) - Easy

==Smoke & Mirrors==

Clock O'Doom - Easy
Shake Well Before Using - Intermediate
Tattoo You - Easy
Hop Two It - Easy
Timely Departure - Easy

Also, I'd like to mention that Numero Uno and Magician vs Gambler from Harry's lecture notes are great tricks.

'The Paper Engine' contains good tricks, but I've still not got around practising them.

I'm currently practising doing some routines in this order, wherein each previous trick sets up things for the next trick if needed: Contact Colors (from CARDSDOTCOM), Out of this Universe, Lorayne's Poker Deal and Take Me To Your Leader.

Nice selections, Octave. Just in case Bato isn't aware of it, all of Close-Up Card Magic has been re-written, updated, etc., along with four other early books of mine, in Lorayne: The Classic Collection, Vol. 1. Vol. 2 is the re-write and updating of Reputation-Makers, Rim Shots, Afterthoughts, and more. Best - HARRY L,

Harry and his books are, ofcourse, legendary.

I learned a lot of my day to day slights from Bill Tarr's "Now you see it, now you don't." Nowhere near as complete a collection of tricks and slights as Harry's volumes, but a place I often recommend for beginners to start. It has really nice illustrations and explanations, rates each slight from beginner to advanced, gives some nice little routines with them too get you started, and isn't to overwhelming Smile

Card slights are something you can spend your life learning, there is that much good stuff out there.

Also you can tell them that a joke is only funny for the first time you hear it and a magic trick is only suprising when you see it for the first time...
