Dave,
May I extend my congratulations to you on an excellent production, and to Matt for some dynamite thinking! I loved scribble and indeed performed it at wedding reception yesterday to great reactions. The effects are very well thought out and I will be using them all. Highly recommend this book. Dave. |

I received a complimentary copy of Nevermind to review. My focus is mentalism so I was excited to review this new ebook. The book is very well written and clear. What I liked most about the 5 effects is the original thinking. There is no "secretly remove their thought of card and drop it into their pocket" type material. Everything is laid out and described so you can actually perform it. The methods are novel. Most the effects will require you to do some work making a gimmick but none of them are difficult. Overall it is very nice and anyone who performs will have some very solid effects in their arsenal.

I also received a complimentary ebook from Dave.
Let me first say, you don't need to be a Mentalist to use the material in this book. So, don't be intimidated by the title. There's some excellent thinking in this small book from Mat L'Anoire & Dave Forest. Of the five routines my favorites were: Coin Con, a coin prediction you can easily carry and present anywhere. The items needed for this are east to get if you don't already have them. It occurred to me, you could also do this with postage stamps. If you have David Ben's Book "Tricks" you'll know what I'm talking about. There are other items, I believe you, could do this routine with as well. My other favorites were Scribble and Isolation, a nice divination effect with the serial number on a bill. Dave did a nice job with the design and typesetting of the book. My only complaint is the size of the type. It could have been a point size larger. It was a little hard on the eyes for me. There's also photos to support the copy. All in all, "Nevermind" is a lot of bang for the buck.

I just finished reading this very well designed ebook and most of all I liked the effect "Scribble".
Very good thinking and a wonderful structure of the effect! The other card effects in the ebook weren't a matter of my particular interest, because I already have my favorite card effects for mentalism. Nevertheless they might be of interest for card workers or other mentalists. So "Coin Con" was the remaining effect. The spectator is handed four coins, one of which they are told, matches the coin in an envelope. They try to divine which of the four coins has a duplicate inside. They succeed. Sadly you need something special to achieve the effect, however it is worth to give it a try! Very clean handling. All in all there was not much in it that I could use immediately but I think you can't go wrong for £7.50. |
