Do you advertise your flash paper through any means? I'm not sure if I have ever seen any ads from your company before. The first time I heard of your company was when you posted your first message on magic Café. I would advise you to advertise officially through Steve Brooks so that Magic Café can collect advertising revenue from you which will support this site. Regards, Mike |

It is shipped wet/damp this is stated on the auction listing.

Here's a head's-up. You absolutely can NOT ship flash paper (nitrocellulose) through the mail in the U.S. or anywhere else, even in a damp/wet state. For it to ever be in an airplane or cargo transport vehicle, it has to be shipped as declared DG (Dangerous Goods/hazmat) and shipped properly with proper permits and licensed shippers. FedEx can ship DG, I know, that's what I do for a living. Flashpaper can and will be found by dogs that routinely patrol customs shipments. It's basically nitroglycerine...hello. BIG fines, B-I-G FINES! Call 1-800-GO-FedEx and ask if you can just put flashpaper into a box and ship it without a license.

Heres a head's-up.
I get flash paper shipped to me about once every few months. I live in Florida and it comes from California. I've never once had a problem and its shipped to me by a well known shop. This is a story I've heard from you many times here Steve. I heard it last about a year ago in one of the threads about flash paper. Since then I've gotten about seven shipments of flash paper. You would think if flash paper could not be shipped in the U.S., The shop that ships it would know about it seeing as how its what THEY do everyday. In fact, I think I'll drop them a line and see what they have to say on the matter.

This is the response I received when I inquired about the flash paper.
"Yes, we can ship it to you
There are currently no restrictions that we know of when shipping flash paper by USPS. The paper is shipped wet and therefore is not considered a hazard. We have been shipping flash paper to magicians for years without ever having a problem and will continue to do so until such time as the USPS no longer allows it. As for the person you referred to in you message, I think its clear they must not know the regulations set forth by USPS. We however do and as I said, have never had a problem. I hope this answers your question and we look forward to serving you. - B*******" It seems they have no problem shipping flash paper in the U.S. In fact, You can even buy flash paper from Amazon.com and get it shipped to you. I did not ask about international but as far as that goes I would imagine its a no-no. International may have different restrictions.

I asked at a shop here in Mass. and they had no problem mailing flash paper.
Fly paper, on the other hand, could stick to other people's mail.

I buy flashpaper all the time.

Keep in mind that people also (and we see it every night at the Memphis World Hub) ship illegal drugs through FedEx. Doesn't mean it's legal. Just means the shipper and the guy at the destination haven't been caught yet.
Call the USPS and ask them if you can ship damp nitrocellulose. I'm sure customer service can answer that question. And if you can read (or look at the pictures) posted at all USPS locations where they accept packages for shipment, you'll see exactly what can and cannot be shipped. Ignorance is no excuse. Steve |

Steve is correct. Flashpaper is not ALLOWED to be shipped USPS. But the reality is it gets shipped all the time. I think the flashpaper is so light that no one at USPS pays attention to it. I've never heard of a pack catching fire in transit so the chances of a problem happening seems very slim.
If it's over 13 oz it may be handled differently as they have a weight restriction for mailboxes. My $.02 |
