Hello everybody,
I'll spend the next 12 days in Berlin. Do anyone know a nice place to hang out related to magic (shop, Café, performance place, anything...)? Thanks! Jonathan. |

I am not from Berlin and quite rarely there, but two shops come in my mind:

You must pay a visit to a bar/restaurant called Oxymoron. There they have a show called Close Up Club. Well worth seeing.
Details here:- http://www.close-up-club.de/index.html |

Forget this one:
http://www.zauberkoenig-berlin.de This has become an ugly place and is definitely not worth a visit any more. It's only interesting for historical reasons, if at all. The best place to visit is the Magic Factory shop, because the owner knows probably everything there is to know about magic events in Berlin. He's also a nice guy and a friend of mine. |

Hi Uli,
sorry to hear that... that shop was the first one I visited a loooong time ago, at the age of 8... The owner, Günter Klepke, personally served us...quite scary and unforgettable moment for an eight year old boy, if you know mr. Klepke you know what I mean... he sold me some packet-tricks (Wilde Kaninchen, Die Zeit flieht), Frank Garcias Super Subtle Card Miracles and a set of Linking Rings. Sigh. tempus fugit... but I´m sure you´re right, some years ago I visited Berlin again and just had a look from the outside and there were mainly novelty articles. so, please, forget about this one. All the best, Axel |

It's been a while since I've been in Berlin, but there was a theater there I went to that feaured magicians as well as other acts. I don't recall the name, but I belive it was near the Mitte area, the old East Berlin. Great area by the way.

Jonathan,
On the radio today, they mentioned that the Admirals-bruecke (Bridge) was a happening place to gather in the evening. It's in the Berlin borough of Kreuzberg. Have fun! Craig

The shop itself has a great atmosphere and a stock of novelties I love when a magic shops has. Looking around makes you smile, laugh and think. My highligh was the display monter of fake "dog poo". 8 + variations!!! Their inventory was a wide variety of decks of cards, parlour, close up tricks, practical jokes, puzles etc. A great place for inspiration! That is if you don't prefer the sterile, "modern" magic shop. Long live the king! Espen |
