Hello All,
I recently acquired a few Bazar De Magia Products that I feel deserves to be mentioned. The best part is these tricks do not cost a lot of money yet are very high in quality and fun to perform. More reviews will follow on some of the other items. The Great Jokini http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/the-great-......245.html This is a classic trick revisited. I really enjoyed this effect. It is very easy to perform and you will get the routine down in only a few moments. What is nice about this routine is the story line and products that support the story line. You can see this performed in the above link. The Story Line as depicted from the advertisement. Tell the audience that The Great Jokini, renowned escapist, was once sent to jail for dressing up as the King. Maybe the sentence was too high for something that was supposed to be just a joke. At this point put the joker into the jail and show both sides of the jail to clearly display that the joker is inside. Now put the jail into the case. Tell the audience that The Great Jokini was very sad for having made such a silly joke that sent him to prison. But, alas, he was an escapist and had a great idea. Take the jail out of the box. Everybody will see the Joker in the jail. The joker will vanish instantly and in full view! Show the jail from both sides and ask a spectator to look into the box. She will find the Joker inside. Tell them that The Great Jokini went back to the palace to apologize to His Majesty for his silly joke. The King, being a kind soul, forgave him and everybody in court rejoiced and applauded merrily. The “jail” is very well made of highly durable plastic and the vanish of the card is very fast. The case is also very well made of a high quality thick cardboard and the art work is very nice depicting a jail with an open door on one side and the Joker dressed up as a king leaving the jail on the other side. The joker card is on a normal red backed bicycle stock card and depicts a joker that is dressed up as a king riding a bike. I performed this for a 5 year old and he loved the story and gasped when the Joker visibly disappeared from the jail. I asked him to look in the case and remove the card to show the joker returned back to the king’s castle to apologize, the parents laughed. This is where the routine ends. I like to take it one step further and say, “The king said he would accept his apology only if he returned back to looking like a joker and not the king.” The joker agreed and you visible change the joker dressed up like a king to a normal stock joker card. Just use your favorite item to switch one card out for another. You can use a simple magic drawer box or miracle card case from EZ magic to make the final transposition. These props will run you about $4.00. Overall, this is a lot of fun for just a few bucks! Hope you enjoy this as much as I do. PS- my wife enjoyed it too! Mike |

Watching the video my main question is how do you justify putting the frame in the envelope and then taking it right out again? As soon as I saw that it rang as suspicious in my mind.
It is always darkest just before you are eaten by a grue.

I tell them that the Great Jokini was put behind bars (slide into the plastic piece) and hidden away in the Kings dungeon (place into the case).

AH, nice justification. I also think some temporal misdirection might help here. In the video he literally slid it in and then right back out. With some story or patter between the two it could be less obvious.

It sure can. It's a neat little trick that's worth a look. Fun to perform too.
