Old site was better. This one lost some of the design aspects that was good. Still great content.

it doesn't have enought punch with the layout and the white.
but still worth while going to.

The old site was better designed. Maybe this one is easier to update.

I prefer the look of the new site. Simpler, more streamlined. The homepage is much nicer.

I will disagree with you as if you do any type of usability testing on this site it is going to fail. The menu system isn't the most usable menu there is. The content isn't structure properly as there is still to much scrolling. Very disappointed with this upgrade.

It had not been changed ever - it was overdue - probably just time for something new. .

I met with Jim today--he was meeting with the web designer to work the bugs out. Patience---it isn't finished yet.

It could use some more punch to it for sure. I do like that he's doing it though..that tells me that he's probably planning to add more content and products!

I won't lie though, I'd love to get my hands on his source code and play for a bit

I don't see Analytics tracking code - Jim might want to get that in there and see how the new site is doing.

I wish he had left the other site up and working until the new site was ready to cut.

It seems to much like a Wordpress type website. These are easy to build and manage yourself. I went to the designers page and all of his site designs are the same. Menu on top and left column...tons of scrolling text and info on right. This is exactly how a wordpress page is made. The upside is you can, as the owner of the site, do your own updates, no designer needed. The downside is you have limited power in the design aspect. Basic header at top, photos listed within text, link placement...all have few options. This is why you have so much scrolling...its more designed for the owner and less designed for the viewer.

For those needing a basic and easy to update site (magicians who add photos, blogs, videos, stories) on a regular basis, its the way to go. If you have any photoshop experience and can understand how to begin using Wordpress, its free.

But it looks to be some kind of database type site, not saying its wordpress, but similar at the least. If this is the case, then its possible Jim expects to add various things down the road...maybe blogs, updates, etc. that's usually the reason businesses switch to these types of sites....to easily update and add pages themselves as needed.

I could be wrong, but from looking at the designers sites he's made, they all seem to have the same template style.

I recommend to use Wordpress as a blogging platform not a CMS (Content Management System). But if you are looking for a solid CMS platform that gives you more freedom with your look and function then go with Joomla - http://www.joomla.org - Joomla is also free and user friendly.

If you want both a awesome blogging platform and a awesome CMS I recommend going with Wordpress for Joomla component to install into your Joomla site - http://www.corephp.com/joomla-products/w......mla.html Get the best of both worlds.

By the way Jims site is straight html site. Bill doesn't use a CMS or other stuff like this.
