I'm talking about the turns of phrases, vernacular, from people in the 17 & 1800s?
And what about illiterate people? This pertains to messages or voices in period seances. Well, the answers are on BBC radio 4's "voices from the old Bailey". Even back then every word wAs recorded verbatim. Happy days

When you lift upper body to an upright position, they will say 'BURP'.

I wrote a JTR routine for the "Yours truly" project which actually includes that fact Van!
We had quite a lot of fun in the DR at medical school making our cadavers burp.

Most of the 'dead' voices I have heard in recent times have been, 'Ping' or 'Ping Ping', depending on whether they are answering 'Yes' or 'No'.!

Tee Hee! Good one Bill.

As magicians we create what onlookers call magic. If they truly believe in what we have created for them to witness then magic is real!!!

I can't remember the documentary name I'm afraid, but it was a bbc one...and it was about these historical vocal archives...records kept of all our dialects, and how some have changed and morphed, others have died out...
just like the cockney accent has pretty much died out in london these days, but still lives on round my way (guvnor) in essex, cos of WW2... so there are archives, but whether they're online too - I don't know...
I've asked to be banned
