Thank you Donnie... my Don Alan mini chop cup arrived and I worked with it today... great reactions, everyone assumed it was a schnapps cup...

Great weight, fits snug in the hand I use rubber super balls as final loads then produce a mini cricket ball and finally a full sized billiard ball.

Thought it was too much but went down great...

any thoughts on how much is too much... let the comments begin

Tim:

With chop cups, I don't think there is "too much" as long as the routine doesn't drag out. As long as the ending has a logical build, then it works. Yours sounds great to me.

I've used an antique brass cup like yours for several years. It wasn't antique brass when I got it. It just got that way from use. I usually end with two smiley face balls, when I am strolling in the hospitals.

However, my usual routine ends with a rapid fire production of a billiard ball, a cue ball and an 8 ball from a chop cup. That 8 ball really punches the ending.

Hi Bill I got them here and had them sent to my father (free shipping) then my daughter brought them over when she came back from vacation this spring...

I will be in England between the 16th and 19th August if you want some I can order them to my father's address and then send you a package.

Tim, it's a pleasure. Glad you are satisfied with the cup.
I couldn't get past the login screen for your photo though, the username and password were rejected.

I love those mini cricket balls. Thanks for the link.

And as long as your audience is surprised by what's coming out from your cup, then it's not "too much". It all depends upon you and your handling of the cup.

turned off the password thingy - http://gallery.me.com/timdowd#100123

The cricket balls are a little too big for the cup but as a pre-final load it works great... I may do a quick Vimeo this weekend if I get a chance...

Bill & Doug Thanks for that. The Cricket ball comes just before the Billiard ball in the close up version it is dropped into the spectators cupped hands giving plenty of time to load the Billiard ball and have a second spectator cup their hands. If I catch this on video I will post it too...

Tim,
That is wonderful, a street con with a touch of witchcraft!
There is a moment at 1:24 when you pick up the cup and say "Riiiight..." that is just brilliant, very natural.

Nice routine. Loved the story line and even the slight "cursing" slip! Those loads worked well too.

Wow! Mr. Dowd, I'm SO glad you shared that with us! An absolutely BRILLIANT performance. One could NEVER say that it was "too much"!

And, I watched your other videos as well. I noticed you speak German very well. Man, what fun! Just look at the reactions! I'm jealous.

Mr. Dowd,
Very nice routine. Entertaining and direct.I always like to see what others are doing with the chop cup or the cups and balls.

Tim,

A very very nice routine. Very tightly routined and a great and entertaining story to boot. Your routine just goes to prove that originality in performance is both fun and highly rewarding.

Way to go.

I thoroughly enjoyed the premise, the presentation and the performance.

Mike

P.S. BTW, is the music also original? Regardless, it fit the performance like a glove. It was both whimsical and lightly tongue-in-cheek magical. Perfect music for the routine.
Magic is a vanishing Art.

This must not be Kansas anymore, Toto.

Eschew obfuscation.
