Hi,

I bought an exquisite 14" hippity hop rabbit set a year ago (magnetic version with yellow cover boxes - cannot remember the make but they are probably the best on the market)and have never used them in my children's shows. I know that sucker tricks make kids go wild - I have a die box and they almost wet their pants telling me that I'm cheating! However, even though I have practised the usual routine I just think that the finale of showing the black and white rabbits having changed to blue and red is not that big a deal. Is it for you guys?
I just took some photos of the rabbits and was about to put it up for sale on ebay but they are sooo beautiful that I really want to have another go with these things.
I know that some people use this prop as their closer but I just don't get how you can create a stupendous ending just by turning them around and saying, in effect, "Oh they are blue and red, how nice!"
Please can somebody put me out of my agony and tell me how I can use my beautiful rabbits to proper effect.
Thanks
Shane King

Shaneking,
Consider producing two real rabbits for the ending. Easier said than done, but I think it would get the closer that your beautiful HH-Rabbits deserve. If you can swing coloring them red and blue, even better!

Roy at Jamstone makes a great magnetic set where the finale is the backside of the rabbits. Although I think the color change finale is more impactful, you can make a lot of jokes about “the only thing behind a rabbit is a rabbit’s behind.”

The colorchange surprise finale has worked for fifty plus years.

You’re overthinking it. It’s perfect.

I just wish someone would make a great looking lightweight set with artwork that doesn’t look like it’s from 1946.

Just talking about Hippty Hops - I made a regular size pair (1960'e Abbots size) with the help of an artist friend (he did drawing - I copied onto the boards). A pair of "Playboy Beauties "-red and yellow bathing suits. A Blond & a Redhead. The Final turn around IS Family Friendly. Wish I knew how to share a picture. At 84 (in June) ashamed to say - computer illiterate, some day if not too late may be able Ha Ha Ha RR

I saw a YouTube vid of this one guy at a classroom show, and at the end of the HHR trick where the kids were screaming for him to "TURN THEM AROUND!!", he himself turns around, and he has a big fluffy cottontail on his rear!

Another guy (who I saw live) used them as his closer, and he said "Oh, but I don't wanna turn them around! You see, if I turn them around, that will be..." whreupon he turns them around, and in addition to being different colors, they have the words "THE END" split between them.
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.
