Hello!
I'm strongly considering attending Marc Savard's hypnosis training in January 2011. I've been performing magic for a number of years and have limited experience in hypnosis. I have read Ormond McGill's Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnosis and I am currently reading the Ronning Guide to Modern Stage Hypnosis. Therefore, I would welcome comments from those who previously attended Marc Savard's hypnosis training. In particular, did you have any training in hypnosis prior to attending Marc's course? Did you attend both the Fundamentals of Hypnotism Training and the Stage Hypnosis Training? Would you recommend attending both parts of the hypnosis training course at one time or would you recommend attending the Fundamentals of Hypnotism Training and then getting some experience prior to attending the Stage Hypnotism Training (i.e. a year later)? Thank you in advance for your comments. Daniel

Dan, I myself have limited experience . but all I needed to know did not come from attending a training course but from purchasing the $200 dollar dvd set called "Stage Hypnosis Made Easy" by Bill Gladwell. this is purely his whole training course and the knowledge gained after watching it is extroardinary.
now earlier I made the mistake of wanting to sell it along with "the manchurian approach"vby Anthony Jacquin, but I look back now and I do believe it would be extremely hard to part with these. -kyle |

I cant speak of his course, but I can tell you that Marc is a fantastic performer. He has countless shows under his belt, and any information he can give you would be gold. I beleive there is a portion of his course where you go see him perform what he just taught you live in front of a Vegas crowd. On top of this, Marc is a stand up guy. Very friendly, good guy and I'm sure an amazing teacher. I have seen many people comment on his course, and they seem to have thoroughly enjoyed it. The opportunity to learn from a Vegas pro who works 6 days a week does not come around often.

Thank you, kmpx18...
Daniel, I'd be glad to answer any questions that you may have in regards to my DVDs and/or training. I can't speak of other training. I'm sure they all have their pros and cons. My training, both DVD and live, is very complete. I can put you in contact with names you may know who have been through my live and DVD course and who can tell you more... people like Aaron DeLong, Alvo Stockman, Reed McClintock, etc... Contact me directly, Daniel, with your questions. Thank you! |

I am a travel agent who was on holidays in Las Vegas and went to Marc Savard Comedy Hypnosis show. I have many years experience in Sales & Marketing and worked for 2 International Airlines prior to opening my own travel agency.
I spoke to Marc about weight loss using hypnosis and whilst talking to him he suggested that he was going to be running a Stage Hypnosis Course. After 6 weeks of thinking about it I decided to take the course. Marc put's his heart and soul into this course. He teaches you more than he should and gives away a lot of his own trade secrets. To go to training during the day then watch Marc perform at night is AMAZING. Marc even explains to us from stage (IN A COVERT FASHION) on what techniques he is currently using. It just all falls into place. If you are serious about Stage Hypnosis then Marc's course is the BEST there is. What you get for your small investment is INCREDIBLE. I now do my own shows and I know the inside out what chairs to use and not to use. Sound systems, lighting, routines, hypnosis inductions, ethics there is just so much covered in the course. You just can't get this on DVD (I KNOW I ALSO PURCHASED SOME)in fact I don't know of any other Stage Hypnosis training school where you learn during the day and watch the teacher perform at night. Marc's professionalism in training matches or is better then the training I received when I worked for the airlines. IF YOU ARE REALLY SERIOUS THEN TALK TO MARC AND TAKE HIS COURSE ! |

Hi Daniel...
I guess I am the first one to reply who as actually attended Marc's Stage Hypnosis Training, which I did in January and March of this year. I am somewhat biased, but here goes... I had, prior to attending Marc's training, attended two other Stage Hypnosis Training Seminars. I will not mention their names, but they are all very well known Stage Hypnotists and regularly offer training. I am quite confident you would recognize their names, and I would privately disclose them to you. While I learned from each seminar I attended, I learned more from Marc in part 1 of his training than I did in all my other trainings, readings and videos watched...COMBINED! Marc is both knowledgeable and passionate about the art and science of hypnosis. He has soooooo much knowlege, that even in 8 days, he says there are many more things he wishes he had time to teach!!! I truly felt that Marc held nothing back, giving us those little secrets that make his show so successful! Prior to training with Marc, I had seen his show 4 or 5 times, and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. He is a true performer! In my opinion, he has, by far, the best STAGE HYPNOSIS SHOW I've ever seen! If you have not seen his show, you should check it out, or subscribe to his channel on youtube. I have so many great things to say about Marc that I can't possibly say them all here! On a personal note, Marc is such a nice guy! I just got back from Las Vegas, and attended his show twice over the 3 days I was there. Once I was on stage and stayed for the duration of his show, and the last night I was in the audience. As a former student, Marc makes you feel welcome again and again, and truly like a friend! I consider Marc both my friend and mentor, and will attend his class as a refresher each and every year he offers it! One final note...prior to attending Marc's training, after having studied hypnosis for approximately 5 years before with an interest for 15+ years, I had never performed a single show or demonstration of hypnosis. After attending Marc's part 1 training, I did a home hypnosis party which went great. After part 2, I came home and planned my first big show, which I performed May 21st before 160+ people. It was a resounding success!!! I have done some small things since, and am working on my next big show, and I credit my confidence and skills to what I learned from Marc! Feel free to reply or email me directly if you have any questions. I would be happy to answer. My email is darinfrazier@darinfrazier.com. Lastly, a part of me is selfish in not wanted that many people to train with Marc because I feel he produces the finest, most completely trained hypnotists anywhere, which simply means more competition out there. However, I have formed friendships with fellow students around the world, and we constantly talk, chat, support each other, and share ideas about shows and routines! I don't think you will find a better STAGE HYPNOSIS TRAINING anywhere!!! |

Funny how both of those that speak the loudest high praises both are newbies with this being only their first post!?! While I agree Marc is very credible and solid, statements like "the best I've ever seen" is very subjective, especially to untrained or just-trained newbies. I too have seem Marc's show and it is very nice, but I wouldn't get carried away with statements like "the best". Until you seen 20, 30, 40 live performances or more, it not very credible to make these such statements.

MP,
I do understand what you are saying, but Im pretty sure that you are not referring to me. However, I really hope my opinion does have a bit of weight behind it. I have seen about 25-30 performers, have about 60 tapes/DVDs of performance shows, have worked full time for about 7 years, and part time for another 7 years. Trust me when I say Marc is one of the best out there. I have never attended his training but my conclusions on it is based on my witness of his shows, and how incredible successful Marc is in one of the toughest markets in the world. I can imagine that his training in on par with his stage success. |

While I hate to, nor do I feel the need to defend myself or my opinions, and they are just that...OPINIONS, here goes...
About me, my interest in STAGE HYPNOSIS was first developed over 15 years ago. I purchased my first book then, and actually hypnotized a friend of mine, but was never formally trained. About 7 years ago, my best friend (who is a comedian) performed at a COMEDY & HYPNOSIS SHOW that featured DR. SCOTT LEWIS as the HEADLINER. I got to hang out with SCOTT and pick his brain over dinner and drinks for the next several hours. He told me about STAGE HYPNOSIS CENTER and GEOFF RONNING. I purchased GEOFF'S home study course and went through it, along with many other books and videos, including ORMOND McGILL'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MODERN STAGE HYPNOSIS. I watched and studied all of the materials in my possession, and my interest only grew, yet I did not challenge myself to perform at that point, being somewhat of a perfectionist. Shortly after that, I began to realized that I really needed (for me) to train with someone and gets "hands-on" training and experience, so I began searching for seminars I could attend. In 2008, I attended training with the HYPNOSIS GURUS, RICHARD NONGARD and Michael JOHNS. This was a brief 3 day training which provided some of the basic founations of performing a stage hypnosis show. In 2009, I attended the ULTIMATE STAGE HYPNOSIS TRAINING with JERRY VALLEY (the legend), TOMMY VEE & Michael DeSCHALIT. It was great, and in fact, the first time I had actually been hypnotized (in a stage setting / classroom training), by JERRY VALLEY. This course was 5+ days jam-packed with tons of information for the newbie or veteran performer. At JERRY'S seminar, I had the opportunity to personally meet and chat with MARC SAVARD, whose shows I had previously seen, and saw 4 of the 5 nights I was there for JERRY'S training (he was DARK on Friday, or I would have been there then too!). Now, while I may be a newbie at performing STAGE HYPNOSIS, I have performed or been on stage in many capacities throughout my lifetime. Also, I have seen well in excess of 40 - 50 stage hypnosis performances, including MARC SAVARD (15 - 20 times), ANTHONY COOLS (3 - 4 times), MARSHALL SYLVER, DR. SCOTT LEWIS, Michael JOHNS (several times), TERRY STOKES (several times in both LAS VEGAS & over many, many years at the CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR), SUZY HANER & many other hypnotists who have performed at fairs and festivals throughout Northern California. I think that number of shows more than qualifies me to say what a good show is and what a bad one is, and, believe me, I'VE SEEN MANY OF BOTH! Now, opinions are just that...OPINIONS! But, I have seen many shows and trained with many people. In my humble opinion...MARC SAVARD is by far THE BEST STAGE HYPNOSIS PERFORMER and TEACHER on the planet!!! Again, this is MY OPINION! He is knowledgeable beyond belief! But, more importantly, HE IS PASSIONATE about his art, and about making his students understand why HYPNOSIS WORKS, how HYPNOSIS WORKS, and HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY PERFORM HYPNOSIS! I can guarantee you that I have spent more time, money & effort than 90% of hypnosis students alive to learn this art, and I will be a student of hypnosis for the rest of my life! I get no compensation or reward for this endorsement...I am simply passionate and thankful to those who have helped me achieve my goals! Lastly...yes, I am a newbie to the magic Café. I was not aware of this site until someone informed me about it, and the posting about MARC'S training. They knew I had attended MARC'S training, so they sent me the link. I joined to comment because I truly feel anyone would gain great value in attending MARC'S training! In the end, you have to do what's right for you, individually! For me, attending MARC'S STAGE HYPNOSIS TRAINING was the BEST decision I have made to date in my quest as a STAGE HYPNOTIST! Enough said!!! |

I think Mindpro is mereley pointing out yet another of these strange coincidences we often find in The Café. And no RSD, I don't think he was referring to you in any way.
Also it is often 'suggested' that somnambulists step into The Café now and againto give their unbiased opinions(ahem!).

Thank you to all for your posts, your comments and opinions are greatly appreciated.
Mindpro: May I ask what is your background in hypnosis? Do you have a course or program that you would recommend to a beginner such as myself? I'd welcome your comments as a "special user" Thank you in advance for your reply. Daniel

Again guys...I am new to THE MAGIC Café. But, now that I'm aware of it, I will be a regular poster to this site. I don't perform MAGIC, except as it relates to the MAGIC OF THE MIND. However, just because I recently discovered this website, that doesn't mean my opinion should be valued any less. I'm not sure how many people who have commented have trained with multiple instructors, or read countless books, watched tons of videos, and sought out many resources all to come as close to perfection as possible. I have, and was just giving my opinion based on my 15+ years of interest and education in the field of hypnosis.
There are many fine instructors out there! There at many GREAT HYPNOTISTS out there. I was just offering my "biased" opinion based on my experience. But, frankly, aren't ALL OPINIONS "biased" by definition??? |

I've taken Marc's training, had the privilege of working one-on-one with Marc, and have been doing my own shows for a few years now.
I've also seen all but one of the newest hypnotist shows in Vegas, and others who tour (including Marc's touring show). First, I will say that Marc's show is the best I have seen, for reasons too numerous to mention. In addition to my training with Marc, I've read numerous books, and taken other DVD based courses. Again, Marc's training is the best I've seen or heard about. The opportunity to learn from one of the very best in their field, and then have the opportunity to see those lessons put into practice live on stage is one that cannot be under estimated. Marc has always been available to answer the odd question that has popped up, and helped to make new routines I've come up with all that they can be. I consider Marc truly my mentor, but more importantly, a friend. The world of Stage Hypnosis, and hypnosis in general, is better off because he's a part of it. As with anything, learning is a constant and evolving process, and I continue to seek and study new material, but I truly believe that I can attribute any success I've had because of my training with Marc. The investment in training with Marc was truly money well spent!!! Just my two bits!!! Lee |

Thank you MoonRazor! It's great to be a small part of this wonderful community!
And, Inner circle...LOL! Not sure if you're still being facetious or not. Since an "opinion" is based or your experience, by definition it is biased, either for the "positive" or the "negative". While all facts can also be an opinion, all opinions are not facts... Just thoughts to "ponder"... |

I'm just catching up after 10 days on the road performing a run of one-nigthters backed with a five day run of three full shows per day. Bobser is correct I was not referring to you RSD. I was merely stating how ridiculous it is for someone new to pop on here and jump right in without taking the time to understand some of the goings-on here and to also introduce yourself with a little background like HypnotistDarinFrazier finally did. You are very naive to think you can come on here and just expect the community to offer you all their wisdom, experience and knowledge just for the asking, and to be taken seriously with such bold statements under such suspicious circumstances.
Many newbies here don't follow the recommended procedure of reading and knowing the forum rules and then introducing themslves. This would eliminate much of these types of posts and situations. Instead they just charge in with such bold statements as this is the BEST training and this is the Best show (both of which are quite subjective anyhow), then have the audacity to ask about my (or anyone elses) credentials. Much of it is about respect. Trust me I've been doing this probably longer than all of you newbies and Marc Savard combined. Again, learn how things work around here first, such as knowing how to use the search function and almost every single one of your questions will be answered. Please understand that I am not knocking Marc (I've met Marc, seen his performance here in Las Vegas, and have been asked to appear with him at certain functions) and do understand that just because someone is a newbie here at the Café, doesn't necessarily mean the are new to stage hypnoisis, although you must understand that many new bandwagon jumpers, amateur magicians that want to use hypnosis to add a cool "magic affect", and just plain general public kids (teens and twentysomethings) find this forum and then suddenly expect themseklves to be on the same playing field as longtime experienced pros. I know I speak for others as well, take the time to get the full spectrum and understanding of what goes on here and who the contributors are here. And the best advice I can offer newbies is it is very difficult to learn if you are always talking. Darin it is good to know your background and who we are dealing with. I too know quite well many of the people you've mentioned including Geoffrey and Wendy, Jerry Vally, Dr. Scott Lewis and of course Ormond McGill. Welcome and I wish you the best of luck! |

MagicmanDan, while you are deciding on/waiting to take a live training course, I would strongly recommend you also read Anthony Jacquin's Reality is Plastic (and watch the companion DVD). Practice the techniques in Anthony's book and you will begin to build confidence quickly. With that and the other books you are reading you will have a workable foundation of hypnosis to take into the live training.
Good luck... |

Hello everyone.
Sorry that I have not been active in this forum for quite some time. A colleague of mine pointed out this thread and after reading it, I figured that it might be appropriate to respond. @MagicManDan09, thank you for your interest in my training. You raise some good questions. The course is designed in layers, meaning, an individual with absolutely NO experience can take the class as well as even the most seasoned veterans can benefit. I approach the training from several angles, and am VERY detail orientated. I cover fatiguing inductions, overload inductions, rapid inductions, and modifications of all of them together. Many hypnotists tend to use one induction that they find works, and then stick to that. I like to force my students to understand conceptually the ideas taught to them, and then use those concepts to form their own style, wording, suggestions, and performance scripts. This training approach really lends well to having students of many different skill levels in the same class. Seasoned veterans who take the class are FAR from bored and have plenty of information and concepts to add to their repertoire. The course is now designed in 3 parts. Part 1 is designed as an entire hypnosis training class to teach you fundamentals to hypnotizing, managing trance, and putting on a show. Plenty of details are available on my website. Go there to review it. The second part of the training is a more in depth look at tips, tricks, gems, and little trade secrets that enhance the performance as well as the business and marketing of doing shows. I changed the format of the training to be in two parts for the simple fact that many of these advanced techniques were difficult for students to comprehend if they hadn’t experienced the problems these solved in live performing. I believe that they have to experience the trials and tribulations before they can truly understand the importance of the mechanics. Part 3 is new for 2011. I am excited about it! It will be round table based and should prove to be VERY informative and fun! @kmpx18 I am not familiar with the programs that you are mentioning, BUT, I firmly believe that a hypnosis student SHOULD learn from many different teachers and absorb many different styles. My way is a great way to learn, but it is MY way. It does not mean it is the right way for everyone. Get your hands on anything and everything. @RSD Thank you for the nice compliments. You are correct in the fact that I use my Vegas show as a teaching tool. We discuss concepts in the classroom during the day, and the students get to see their instructor perform it live on stage that same night. The following morning we discuss those concepts, what went wrong, what went right, and the students get an insight to my thought process and why I chose certain people for certain roles, etc. It is a very unique training experience that not too many instructors can offer. @rodneypattison Rodney, thanks for chiming in and giving your opinion! Those are very nice words. I hear through the grapevine of your successes in doing shows in Thailand and surrounding areas, as well as your personal accomplishments of weight loss. Last I heard you had lost over 75 lbs. Is this true? Well done! @HypnotistDarinFrazier Darin! Thanks for the praise. I loved your enthusiasm in class, and am glad to see it still pouring out here. I am glad you appreciate that I do not hold back on information. Every little trick, tip, trade secret, is thrown in. I believe that if you are going to train someone, give them everything you have. There are only 2 things I cannot give to my students. Experience and work ethic. Those are two things they have to get on their own. I will try my hardest to provide all the necessary information for my students to have a successful career. @Mindpro You should probably disregard everything I said above. At the time of this posting, this is my 69th post which means I am no where near an expert as many of you are? @MagicOfTheMind Lee, Nice to see of you here! I heard that you did well at a festival you got booked at this past summer. Glad to see the shows are going well! Keep up the great work! @MindPro Let’s all be friends here. This is not a ****ing contest. All is well in the world of hypnotism, no need to be testy. If people want to come train with me, great! If they don’t, great! There are plenty of good teachers, and plenty of hypnotists who know their ‘stuff’. You included. Remind me of your name though, you say we have been invited to events together, but I don’t know who the person behind the name MindPro is. I apologize in advance for my failed memory. @HypnoDan I have heard some great things about Anthony Joaquin’s book. I have not read it and should soon! @MagicManDan I would LOVE to see you at my training. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me anytime or visit my website for more information on the course itself. I know you contacted my office recently for information, either my office or myself will get back to you soon!
