I just saw The History Channel's program - Invisibility. If you haven't seen it was very fascinating and enlightening in regards to metamaterials used to create invisibility and how far science has come. I particularly enjoyed learning about Jasper Maskelyne and his relationship with Sir Winston Churchill and his involvement in WWII.
The following below is a URL link to Jasper's great grandfather John Nevil Maskelyne. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Nevil_Maskelyne I encourage anyone that hasn't seen the program to take the opportunity to watch it. Question, By chance, Is there anyone on The Board that had an opportunity to meet Mr. Jasper Maskelyne or knew of someone that met him and would be will to share their experience with The Magic Café community? |

In the 1990s, I tracked down Jasper's son, Alistair Maskelyne, who lives in Brisbane, Australia.
I subsequently debunked the key components of the war magician myth. Later, I uncovered the identity of the invisible ghost-writer behind the legend. The History Channel recycles the Jasper Maskelyne war myth every few years. The makers of these programs don't even bother with basic research! They prefer fabricated entertainment history. But if you want to find out the real story behind the Alexandria decoy port and the concealment of the Suez canal, check out my website : maskelynemagic.com |

From what I understand, his inventions, such as the spotlight that would throw pilates off their course, is still considered by the Brits as top secret.
