I need your help on a research project I am working on. I am trying to discover what the magic community believes to be the best 100 magic effects for under $100.00. Please do not over think this. What tricks do think have the greatest impact, are easy to perform in the real world and are worth what you pay for them. Please send me a PM with what you like and what type of shows you do. If you are not currently performing but are a magic enthusiast let me know that as well, I want your opinion also. This is not intended to be a must buy list or a propaganda bit, I am merely curious about your opinions. Thank you for your help with this.
If you see this message in other categories please only answer once. I was not sure exactly where it fit in best. Kenneth |

I hate lists like this. They simply encourage magicians to all do the same tricks.

The next burning question would be: what are really the best tricks, those that cost between 1 and 50 bucks or those between 50 and 100?

Campbell's Cube Off is absolutely fantastic as a visual penetration effect. Here is a youtube demo video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg8AdLbDhTE I think it is about $60, though most of the dealers are in the UK, so S&H to the USA can be a little more expensive. The only downside is that the square tube is constructed of cheap wood and then covered in a stick-on wood-like material rather that a nicely finished real wood with stain. Still, this is a great visual magic trick that can be performed close up or on stage. I also like Clarence Miller's Impossible Penetration. At $50 bucks or so from Viking Magic, this is a well-made, solid wood trick that completely fools laypersons...and many magicians, too. Well, it used to fool magicians before everyone started buying this trick because it is that good.
