I've just created a Web site called MagicRoadie.com "Taking the mystery out of stage technology". What I’ll present are “application" guides with easy-to-understand-and-apply principles concerning audio & lighitng, specifically geared toward magicians. The site's not selling any product or service: It's just my way of contributing in the best way I can. Enjoy!

Dan,
I just finished reading everything on your web site. Great work and much needed. I've been professionally involved in stage work for nearly 50 years. I think that makes me qualified to comment on the excellent service you are doing for performers. It's unfortunate, but readily understandable, that you must oversimplify. However, at the very least, you are helping to create a much needed overview of the scope of professional staging requirements. Keep it up. Thanks for all of your effort. Sid

I've just added another article at MagicRoadie.com: "Pick A Mic, Any Mic!" It doesn't tell you which type of mic is best for you but, by reading this guide, most magicians will be able to make their own decision easily and to their own best advantage. There is no “best mic” any more than there is a best type of magic. The mic-buying decision must be based on your own needs and should also be based on a clear understanding of the facts.
Nothing's for sale at MagicRoadie.com. It's just my way of contributing in the best way I can. Enjoy!

I've added yet another article to MagicRoadie.com called "Advancing Your Shows". Even part-time, close-up magicians can borrow a few pages from the contracts the big boys use. "Advancing" is the process of gathering your requirements and speaking with the client to make sure they’re handling all necessary arrangements with regards to your requirements.
Enjoy and, by the way, comments are always welcome! http://www.magicroadie.com

No, Slim King, I'm not planning on doing anything on black lights but, as always, I'm sure our other pals here will have some good input. What are you trying to do? What are your questions?
http://www.magicroadie.com By the way, "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it!" **** I've just posted an eighth article at MagicRoadie.com, all about stage plots. Every magician needs a stage plot, and a good one isn’t difficult to create, and should be very simple, cleanly laid out, and easy to understand. First, we look at some of the rules of thumb regarding formatting and content. Then, we check out a sample stage plot for an illusionist, and one for a close-up, table magician. By the way, thanks to everyone for your support of my site! Enjoy! http://www.magicroadie.com

Dan,
What a fantastic site. I can see it just growing and growing. You know I shouldn't say this because you are doing it for free but there's a fantastic book inside your head. I worked in a theatre (mainly LX and get in's / out's) for a couple of years and it was the only day job I ever had that I looked forward to . Now my level of knowledge isn't as good as many on here so I am learning some great tips from your site. Sterling work. Bri |

I'm more of a lighting and special effects guy, if I can help let me know. I have done everything from setting up small lights at weddings to programing large intelligent light rigs. I'm also a pyro technician in Phoenix,AZ USA, the strictest city in the US for pyro. Fog, fire, snow, bubbles, confetti, video projectors lights and... let me know
