For some reason I've been thinking about an effect involving a spinning coin. i.e., you put it on the table and then spin it like a top. And then...
I'm not really sure. I haven't gone past the spininng part. I think it would look cool, and I've never seen an effect like this. Maybe you cover it, still spinning, with your hand, and it disappears. Or you put both hands out, and it disappears under one hand and appears, still spinning, under your other hand (like a matrix effect). Or... you levitate it, and it continues to spin in the air (cool, and I think do-able) In Patrick Kuff's spoon bending video, he has an effect where one spoon spins underneath another spoon. Perhaps with this method, plus the right quarter, you could pick up a spinning quarter from the table on the end of a spoon. Then have the spectator remove the spinning quarter and you could immediately hand out the spoon. Hmmm... |

Wow! Why I'm the first one resonding to this is beyond me!!! I think that sounds like a really cool idea.
I don't own a raven, but I'm wondering if it would work with a spinning coin. Anyways, I don't think it would be hard to make it appear spinning. (Once you're left hand is "empty," simply flick it out of your hand and drop it on the table.) As for a vanish.... you're on your own! I don't think the spinning quarter in the air would be a problem at all. I would post more, but I'm sure someone out there has already marketed this idea somewhere. Just think about it, and I'm sure you'll figure out a way. You've got your idea, now all that's left is to figure out a method! Good luck with it. -Peter

Hold coin upright on tabletop, left index finger on top edge. Rub left index finger with right index finger three times. Third time the coin spins. (This is an old gag.)
Use one of those fake "Chinese" coins with a hole in the center. As it spins, show a length of 1/4" wide satin ribbon. Bring ribbon to spinning coin stretched between your two hands, lower it quickly, and coin is strung onto ribbon (move from Jay Scott Berry's ring and string routine). 0pus |

The coin seems to spin indefinitely. The magician places an inverted glass over it, and whilst the audience wows at the spinning (which seems to be accelerating), the magician taps the glass, the glass rattles and the single quarter multiplies some ten times over -- kerrching!

I used to do a coin through glass routine, and one of the phases was as follows...
Have a coin classic palmed in the right hand, glass off the right. Spin a duplicate coin, then quickly (but smoothly) pick up the glass with the right hand. Knock the spinning coin so that it flies into your lap. At the same time, release the coin from classic palm into the glass, and bingo, a visual penetration. Play with it, it looks kinda cool.
