Hi Everyone,
This sounds like fun! A chance to win David's new DVD. Talking about the DVD, it contains great material! This is the kind of stuff that we are looking for. Routines that entertain and allow the audience to see our performing personality. Corsaro's DVD has the goods. If you don't take the opportunity to win the DVD, then just go out and buy it. Respectfully, Paul Green |

Just wanted to chime in on the dvd. Very smart stuff. The phone number routine could easily be a very funny five minute chunk in someone's standup show, even though the trick packs small enough for close up.
What particularly appealed to me about the dvd is the non-hyped up nature of the performance setting, meaning no walking up to supposed strangers and doing a trick, no over the top phony reactions. Strong magic (along with David's likable persona) is what you get in this dvd. BTW, in the interest of full disclosure, I consider David a friend and we've done a "Time To Be Awesome" podcast together. But that would just cause me to keep quiet if the material wasn't good. Unfortunately, I don't have to keep quiet about this dvd. If you're looking for material that is strong, interesting and relatively easy, this is it. Best, Doc Dixon |

Saw David perform at a local convention, MetroMagic.com and he killed a room full of established magicians! I didn't know he had released a DVD but will now look into this. David is a personable likable performer who relied on solid routine structure in place of knuckle busting sleights. At least that is the way the lecture was. It went over very well for all in attendance.

I have seen David perform his original material at FFFF and he never fails to impress me. His magic is practical, entertaining, audience-involving and very magical. I was very pleased to learn that this DVD was being released because I have wanted to learn several of these routines. The "Getting to Know You" routine will go into my repertoire immediately.
The production of the DVD is very good - mercifully free of bursts of static, long cgi intros, blaring music, artsy ankle-level camera shots and all the other dreck that we have to sit through on so many magic DVDs. The performance settings are natural and the explanations are thorough without ever being condescending. During the explanations, David and a friend discuss the effects and give suggestions for different handlings. The DVD includes an offer of updated information to keep one of the effects current - an offer which will save you a lot of work. In keeping with Doc's disclosure above, I have known David for several years and always look forward to seeing him at Fechter's. Cheers Robin |

I have the DVD and it's awesome. Getting to know You is a great personal effect with emphasis on the spectator, making them feel special. Allows you to improvise and customize for the lucky spectator. I would of paid much more for this DVD.
Many Thanks David! |

I know I have a quote on the DVD but I wanted to chime in on here to mention David's DVD. I first met David at FFFF a few years ago and was instantly taken with his approach to commerical magic. He performed a couple of the effects from this DVD and I really, really liked them. I became a huge fan of 'Getting to Know You' and have been using a variation of it in my professional work ever since.
What I especially like about the routines that David has come up with is that they are not just'limited option' routines. in other words, they are great premises rather than rigid routines and that allows the thinking magician to take David's ideas and run with them. These are far more valuable than a sleight heavy 'change 4 half dollars to 4 chinese coins' type effects. If you want strong commerical effects and ideas, get this DVD. I should also point out that I consider David to be one of my closest friends in Group 5, Pool 3, A-M section. This has no bearing on the fact that his material is great for the working magician.
Creator of iconic magic that you will want to perform.

Hi all,
I'm a little late in chiming in here but would like to add my two cents regarding David's new DVD. First off, I must admit that David is a good friend of mine and he was kind enough to send me an advance copy of the DVD. I hope I don't come across as biased because of that. With that said, I'm a huge fan of David Corsaro. Of all the routines that I've seen David perform, I really think he has included the very best for his first DVD. Prior to discussing those I would like to mention one thing: I think everyone will notice upon watching the performance section of the DVD that David focuses ALL of the effects on the spectator and gets them involved in some way or another and as much as possible. I believe this is the best type of magic. He grabs them with an emotional hook and keeps them hanging on till the very end. Through his presentation's and his blocking of the effects, he keeps them interested and not feeling like, "Geez when is this guy going to end." One way he does this is he ultimately makes it all about them! What a nice seque into the trick... “Getting to Know You” The title says it all, how many times have we found ourselves at a table and forgotten a spectator’s name, for whatever reason. I’ve done it in the past and I’m usually very good with names. This effect forces you to get to know you spectators and it’s a great overall trick as well. Through a series of questions, cards are dealt ultimately arriving at one card...that card ends up having your spectator's name on it. The presentation is amazing, the method is slick and again you get to know your spectator. I've been performing this trick ever since I first learned it a few years ago and it has greatly improved my rapport with my audience. I recall having conversation with David about this in the past and the one thing that we discussed was that it opens up a lot of doors for callbacks later in your set to things that were discussed earlier on, perhaps during this effect. It's a great way to establish that emotional connection with your audience and it allows you to keep it throughout your time with them. “Can I Call You Sometime” is a version of “Triumph” but with one of the best presentations I’ve ever seen. A spectator thinks of a phone number from a list of cocktail napkins, the cards are then mixed face-up and face-down. When the cards are spread all the cards are face-down with the exception of ten cards. Those ten cards are the numbers from the previously selected phone number. I'm not a huge fan of Triumph effects, however there are three that I keep in my arsenal at all times and David's is one of them! His version takes the standard effect and makes it so much better. I think it also allows the effect to play somewhat bigger as well. Rather than just having a card selected, returned, hopelessly lost in a mess of face-up and face-down cards and then found - you actually have a reason for what you're doing. Everyone knows the "Baby Gag" but David has used his backqround in Marketing to take the gag to another level! Rather than just doing the gag and being done with it, he has molded it into a fun routine that it quite entertaining. Yes it may only work 50% of the time but when it does you have a miracle on your hands. I've seen him perform this about 2-3 times in the past and each time it hit and got huge reactions. Finally, "Mallrats" is a great prediction effect that ends with a souvenir for the spectator with all of your contact information on it. What more could you want from an effect!? Anyways, a spectator takes an imaginary stroll through the mall and end on one shop. The one shop is predicted in David's wallet. The effect sounds simple but don't let it fool you, there is some great psychology in this. He again makes it all about a spectator when he performs it. He even gives out cards to other spectators to try and they find that they arrive at different shops when compared to the participating spectator. Plus, did I mention they get your contact information in the end!? The DVD quality is great also. Professionally shot footage, animated DVD menus with crisp transitions, and great music. David, I love all the movie lines at the beginning of each scene. That was awesome man! Ok, so I think I made myself clear when I said earlier that I'm a huge fan of David Corsaro. He's a good friend and a great magician. Anyone that is interested in practical and commercial magic this is the DVD for you. Don't take my word for it, look above, I highly doubt that Jon Allen, Paul Green and Doc Dixon would be wrong. Great work David! I'm looking forward to any future offerings you may have for the magic community. -Bill |

Just saw David at the Motor City Close Up Convention...and have to say that his trick "Getting To Know You" is AWESOME! It's one of those things that I wish I had thought of...so simple...so easy...but with a powerful impact on your volunteer. (The trade show version is equally as good) I WILL be adding this to my A-list of strolling openers...it's such a great premise and a great way to involve your audience on a 'personal' level.

Just saw David at the Motor City Close Up Convention...and have to say that his trick "Getting To Know You" is AWESOME! I agree -- saw Dave at Motor City Closeup, and he absolutely slayed the crowd. Dave's "Getting to Know You" is quite impressive. It evokes a "what - the??? No way!" reaction and can be used as a super-weapon if you want to impress VIPs. [This should be labeled with "WARNING: use this effect only if you want to get gigs."] Dave also generously shared data gleaned from his years of experience in the marketing industry. He received a thumbs up all around. (I have nothing to gain from this post) |

I just caught David's lecture at the Motor City Closeup Convention and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend it, especially for people who are looking for a way to get their name out there. I know several magicians who are always complaining about not getting shows and they blame it on lack of money for advertising. Well, if you catch David's lecture you'll find out there are ways around that.
Yours In Magic,
