You haven't really heard the Beatles until you've heard "When I'm 64" done by a barbershop quartet.

I will stick with the original version of When I'm 64. I didn't care for the barber shop quartet's cover of it. It didn't have anything to even make it even remotely enjoyable to listen too. Sorry I give that a huge thumbs down.

When I think of them and realize that they produced their recordings in a period of roughly ten years - there are bands that have been around longer who haven't accomplished anywhere near as much. Some songs are stinkers, some are great but covers, and others are light material and some heavy. All of it is impressive for four guys in about ten years

That is true....I'm still a Stoned and Who guy but as I said, I appreciate the Beatles more now than before. Ahhh, do you guys remember hitting on the first girl too young to remember the Beatles? Good times....

Among the changes (besides John, Paul and George being zombies and Ringo a 7th level ninja lord), their appearance on Ed Sullivan gets a new twist, and the "butcher cover" definitely gets repainted. It's great, especially if you like zombies and the Beatles. |

Look for the book Paperback Writer. In the intro the writer said he interviewed the Beatles and their associates and got all the inside information for the book, placed the notes on top of his car and drove off leaving the notes along the highway so he just winged the book. Very funny.

Here's the boys. 4 Billion folks on the planet and the majorty would rather see this band than any other in the history of music. I spent a good amount of time at The Filmore East in Manhattan and saw many of the greats and still would rather see these four lads!

Did you find the clip of where Paul joined Ringo on a few songs a few weeks ago for his birthday concert?

I honestly don't think she was being ironic or sarcastic, she really couldn't remember! *sigh* MagicSanta, the Stones and the Who are both great. But they only got their starts because someone was looking to sign "the next Beatles."

A friend and her son dropped round once while Helter Skelter was playing (loudly). The kid asked who the band was and when he got an answer did a double take - not the kind of music he associated with the Beatles.
Santa, I used to have a really funny novel about the Beatles, with a fantastic running joke about a brand of toothpaste that Lennon and Sonny Bono were crazy about. I lost it in a move and can't remember the name. Is Paperback Writer it? Cheers, Nosher

In the book "The Spiritual Journey of Alejandro Jodorowsky" he mentions that George Harrison wanted to play the lead character in his movie "The Holy Mountain", but requested that he not have to totally nude in a scene. Jodorowsky knew that his movie would be seen all over the world if he would remove it, but refused to because it would have ruined his artistic vision.

Yes Nosher it is Paperback Writer. They also had the running gag about Ringo having many hit singles.

In the book the gag was saying stuff like "John and Paul hit a dry spot while Ringo continued to enjoy many number one singles including "I've Got A Brand New Key" by Melanie, "Horse With No Name" by America, "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers" you get the idea. It is a very funny book if you can find it. The part where Bob Dylan meets Paul McCartney is great.

Best Beatles parody has to be The Rutles - All You Need Is Cash with half the cast of Saturday Night Live, some of members of Monty Python and a cameo by George Harrison.
