So I took the liberty of creating a video that utilizes shorts. Please critic my work so that I may improve. The method I used for finding the aces was to simple apply pressure with right pointer finger and riffle up the edge until I felt the shorted card. No one has ever taught me that, I kind of just figured it out. But if there is any other methods, please feel free to share them.

I would advise you to take it down and put it back up without exposing the method on you-tube like that.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I agree about taking down the expose...or place this type of clip on the net with security so only "private" people can watch.
In either case...reaching to the corner of the deck looks odd to find the corner shot. Why not just use belly strippers or even a regular "V" stripper deck if you are using it for demo (no expose) purpsoes.

What you're doing with the corner short isn't original, but more importantly it's not the best method of locating multiple cards as you're doing.
Often, a short corner is put into a single card, and un-gaffed target cards are located in relation to the single short corner card. But shorting the corner of each of a group of target cards is somewhat pointless, as there are far more usable methods as mentioned in Experts post above. Short corners are also notoriously easy to spot, even to those not handling the cards. As for your video, I applaud your energy. |

Blackeagle......I was serious when I said I admire your energy.
Do take it down as it tips the short corner, but don't stop reading and contributing to the forum, and don't stop trying to create new and different ways to use existing methods. Have you read all the posts in this (Gambling Spot) forum back to #1......and I mean ALL the posts from start to finish. .......there's some real gold to be found there....but most folks don't understand what "gold" means, and just don't bother. That was a tip by the way. |

Yep, what everyone else said ESPECIALLY Silverking's suggestion about reading all this forums posts! I spent over a week reading and rereading from the very beginning and it was worth every minute! If I may further suggest, don't skip a thread just because it seems silly, ridiculous or trite as there may be a suggestion made that may either answer a question or lead you to another opinion that inspires something new for ya!
Enjoy, MMc |

Look at it this way....if the public sees it, then they will think that is how the "real work" is done....they they will be looking for the wrong thing.
You know the old saying "a little knowledge is dangerous". It is sort of like people who know about the "gambler's riffle test" thinking that they can detect all marked cards

I did the "spend 2 weeks reading from post #1 of thread #1" journey a while back. I made sure that I kept a dedicated Café Journal next to the computer for "future research" and "books to buy" lists etc... I also printed out entire posts, truncated them, and pasted them into the journal.
I guess doing everything digital would have been OK too, but I just love the feel of an actual book in my hands. Studying has always been a fun pleasure, and I don't want that to be replaced by the kindle or iPad >_<. |

Oh the video is gone. Will there be any more? I'm interested in short cards and strippers.

Can you make other parts of the card short? Like a short side instead of a short corner or end? I took some cards and scrapped at the sides with a piece of glass and that kind of carved a scoop out of the side of the card but then that part of the card was just shorter and the corners were that same and I couldn't pull the cards out too good but I could find them easily if I cut the deck by the sides. Can you do that?
Blackeagle is there any chance you wll repost the video? |

Also when I scooped out two cards and put one with one scoop on eone side and one with another scoop on the other side and put them in the deck with one scoop one each side then I could cut to either one depending on which side I picked it up from but when I shuffled the scoops were both on the same side so if you do that how do you keep it so the scoops stay on each side?

The work is generally put in on both sides of the card. The orientation of the cards becomes random after a round of play. If you're going to put work in, you might as well have it last for more than one round.
If I remember correctly, blackeagle's video simply demonstrated it being used as a key card. |

Oh God both sides. Duh!! Thanks.
What's the best thing to scoop out the sides besides a piece of glass. I only used that at first cause that's all I had in the bathroom., But I tried a knife and that didn't even work as good as the glass. |

Wait a minute thoguh. If you put the scoops on both sides of both cards then you can't tell which card you will cut to. You only know that you may get one or the other card.
