I guess this is as far from magic as it can be, but it's called "It's not magic, but..." so...
I'm looking for a good spanish course, preferably online. It has to have these features: 1. Audio files (all the words pronounced by a native speaker). 2. Teach sufficiently many words to be able to speak in non-tourist-situations. 3. Every word must have a translation to english so I know what it means. 4. Teach grammar etc. 5. A feature that makes it possible to test myself if I remember the words etc. I have tried Pimsleur, but it's not online and doesn't work that good for me. I have also tried EZ Language, but it teaches almost only substantives. The Rosetta Stone does not have translations to their words, so I have to guess what they mean, and it doesn't work for me. Any suggestions would be helpful. Mikael |

Good luck in your search Mikael.
Being fluent in Spanish, I can understand the requirements you've listed. Nothing more disgusting than teaching material that allows you to say: "The pencil is yellow" or "Where is the bus stop?"....much out there lacks what I consider to be practical and conversational Spanish. I mean when's the last time you heard yourself say "The pencil is yellow" in ANY language. I know the BENAVIDES tutorial is great and practical. You also have a great free online resource at: http://www.studyspanish.com/tutorial.htm |

I worked on LEARN FRENCH/SPANISH YOUR WAY (Syracuse Language Systems) software--and FRENCH/SPANISH for dummies.
The first is very indepth and easy with video clips etc... the second has less to offer. Ellen harryandersonfan.com |

Thak you all for your input!
I think I have found something that will work for me. It's not as good as I would like it to be, but it seems very complete. I'll keep you informed of my progresses (not that I think anyone is interested, but... ) Mikael |

Wishing you the very best Mikael.
Spanish is beautiful language. I even use it when I'm not supposed to! |

Spanish grammar is very close to french grammar so if you have a french language background, you will find spanish to be very easy for you.
