I know that card catchers are considered by most magicians to be the easy way out or cheating, but I was just wondering exactly what it was and how it is supposed to work. I haven't been able to find any and the fact that there are no magic shops in my area doesn't help the situation. Could someone inform me on how they work. PM if you don't want to disuss it in the forum. All the manipulations that I practice now I do with just my hands, but thought it would be fun to experiment and fool around with one to see what it looks like. Smile

I believe Abbotts has the card catcher you are looking for. I had one I bought a long time ago, tried to play around with it, and ended up selling it at a swap and sell. The gimmick is very difficult to work with and plus when you are finished with it, you have to ditch the gimmick. I think your time is better spent working on back palming and producing singles.

I wouldn't count out the card catcher. For a rapid production of single cards it can be a help. And ditching it has never been a problem for me.
I am the type of person that likes doing things without a gimmick. But am not afraid to add a helper if it can make my show look better from the seats.
The catcher I use was sold by Tannen.
Maybe some of the Dealers can point you in the right direction as to what is available.

There is basically one type of card catcher, and it is more or less reliable. It is available at many different places, such as Tannens, Denny and Lee's, Magic smith and stevens magic emporium. It is a little bit more angly than regular backpalming, but it can be worked on either hand, so you can produce regular singles in your dominant hand, and use the card catcher in the other.
