I'm looking to do an effect where you have 2 ring boxes (like you'd get when you buy a ring) and the spec picks one and it is shown to be empty and the other shown to have the ring in it. I guess I'm looking to find a gimmicked ring box that can be shown empty or not depending on what I want. Does anything like that exist? I have been unable to find one so far.

This may be the one you're looking for.

I do not think a ring box of this nature is available. You are actually looking for a sort of drawer box but only smaller.
The box Bernard suggested is only a vanish, it cannot produce a ring. Even if you can make or find such a prop, what do you want to do next, if is not in the ring box, produce it from another source. Fine if it is your ring, and not borrowed, but if borrowed, then you want a box to do more then what your inital post asked. |

It is sooooo easy to do it via sleight-of-hand, why bother with a gimmicked box?
Think "thumb" in as you shut box. Koran had a dead simple load of a medallian into a box.

I think that nlokers is seeking that kind of ring box for the mentalism effect.
In that context slight-of-hand is not a very good idea. I´m also curious about Ring Box suggested by Bernard. (only for vanish?) |

Why not just get three ungimmicked ring boxes, have the ring in one, and do magician's choice to end up with the right box.

Koran was a mentalist and the sleight with the ring box was simple and effective.
