I can't wait to see this show but also wondering how this is to do with mentalism, it just seems a bit more of a Tony Robbins life changing thing lol

But its entertainment at the end of the day

Cheers

I don't recall Derren ever restricting his performance definition to just "Mentalism" Dan Smile

He does what he does... I personally prefer his Mind Control / Trick of the Mind stuff

Absolute magic (2nd edition) page 38

The rendering of art inferior to therapy is an interesting one: interesting in that it makes me want to vomit angrily.... Neither art, nor magic as art, should be subservient to the delivery of an agenda that exists independently of the performance, however empowering that may be for an audience.... The audience may experience the magic as empowering, but it is not role of magic to promote empowerment. That can be left to the expanding number of gurus in at field.

Perhaps then derren has left the world of mentalism and magic and now setting himself up as an "empowering guru." ..... Coming soon the derren brown academy - a weekend seminar on achieving your dreams £50k plus booking fee.

My guess will be that this is similar to the hypnotism segment part on Trick or treat where the poor fella was boshed out and sent to Marrakesh (I think). Hypnosis seems to be coming more fashionable again.

I imagine he will have actors and a simulator of sorts.

Tonight will tell lol...

The great thing about Derren is, that he (and his crew of course) is reinventing himself all of the time...

...and that is what makes him interesting for lay audiences and keeps him successful.

Brillant...

Sounds like he'll make a pilot forget he's a pilot then make him the hero in a disaster scenario. Similar to the thing he did a while back with the girl who could/couldn't play the piano.

I think this is more in line with a premise of "what would a real mind controller do?"

To an audience this is much more real then predicting which object out of five someone will select.

If you really could control minds this is exactly the sort of stuff you might do... Unless your evil.

But you have to establish believability - I don't believe a word of this.

What was the point in advertising that show as 'live'? Very sneaky ...

Thought this was supposed to be LIVE? pile of crap overall. I honestly believe a lot of people would volunteer in those situations.

the next time someone pulls a gun (hopefully never but you get the point) on that guy he will think he can overcome it and get himself killed.

DB = Dull and Boring

used to love him too Smile sad times

I have to say that was one of the lamest things I've ever sat through. A lot of effort (both in the production and in the watching) just to illustrate a parable.

I'm very disappointed with it. I'm a great Derren Brown fan (when he does proper mentalism). I saw his "Enigma" show in Liverpool earlier in the year and it was great stuff.
